I am sure that my clients appreciate that I focus on their needs more than on the prospective needs of prospective clients when faced with the need to apportion my time. Thank you! Often times, a prospective client will share details offering only limited opportunities for recourse ... and sometimes none at all. This testimonial underscores my commitment to honesty and frankness in my dealings with everyone who honors me by placing their trust in me to help guide them in critical times in their lives. In me, clients and prospective clients can count on my always remembering that individuals facing employment-related challenges generally are most in need of the services of an experienced employee advocate at times when they can least afford one. After four decades of practicing in this area of the law, I know how much of a struggle a client or prospective client may face in taking on his or her employer or ex-employer. A candid assessment of the options, the chances for success, what "success" actually might look like, and a likely budget for executing the selected strategy are what each client and prospective client appreciates ... and I always aim to deliver on those counts. If one's most valuable asset after good health, personal relationships, and a comfortable home environment is his or her future income stream, no lawyer should make things more difficult or more challenging by knowingly accepting a fee for an engagement offering only limited upside potential unless the client knows the risks and likely costs and acknowledges that he or she wants to proceed anyway.

I am sorry that this prospective client had this experience. It is way out of the norm. However, in my defense, when he attempted to reach out to me, I was in the middle of a stretch of medical procedures to diagnose and treat a serious condition (from which I have been cured) and it is possible that neither my secretary nor I took note of his outreach in that time frame. I apologize. We generally respond to inquiries within two business days, but often the same day. It's best to call my office between 9:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, either to share details with us over the telephone or to follow up if a response is overdue. I don't make a practice of overlooking messages left by prospective clients!

I am sorry to hear of this experience, but I think the one-star rating is undeserved and out of line for the following reasons. I personally do not recall a single Voicemail message from this caller (a referring attorney), but we looked into this and now have confirmed that he did place three calls (not four) to my office on February 17, 2021, around 3:30 p.m., ALL WITHIN A SPAN TWO MINUTES, when my secretary was out of the office running an errand for my practice and I was in the hospital attending to a medical challenge all afternoon that had l forced me to limit my in-office hours until just recently. The caller's review leaves the FALSE IMPRESSION that we ignored four calls placed over an extended period of time. Upon investigating this claim, my secretary and I have discovered that the caller but left a SINGLE Voicemail message on that day. My secretary evidently overlooked that Voicemail message when she reported for work the next morning and she regrets the oversight. Even so, my telephone system prompts a caller to leave a Voicemail message for me personally at a different exchange, but this caller did not avail himself of that option when calling my office either of the other two times within that two-minute span and the caller never called back at any later date. All of this has been confirmed by a telephone system report that records the telephone number from which a call is placed to either of my law firm's telephone numbers. WE DO NOT IGNORE CALLS FROM PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS OR REFERRING ATTORNEYS. Since this is a sole practitioner's law firm and circumstances can crowd or interfere with our office calendar from time to time, prospective clients and referring attorneys are urged to call again if a Voicemail message is not met with a return call within 24 hours. --S.
