Paul Harleman cannot be trusted nor believed. He lacks moral turpitude. Harleman stole $1,211,344.91 ( One million two hundred eleven thousand three hundred forty four dollars and ninety one cents ) from three victims while doing accounting work for them in Hawaii. Harleman was convicted of a 14 count federal indictment and sentenced to 64 months in federal prison . The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed Harleman from the United States after Harleman served his prison sentence . We don't need convicted foreign thieves like Harleman stealing money from hard working United States citizens, who were taken advantage of as innocent victims. I did not represent Harleman in his federal criminal case. If I had he probably would have had a better chance. I won two of the main issues in Harleman's custody case . However , under Rule 609 Hawaii Rules of Evidence Harleman's credibility was subject to attack because Harleman was convicted of crimes of dishonesty . The legal reasoning behind the rule of evidence that applies in both federal and state courts is that if a person like Paul Harleman would steal as Harleman did from his own accounting clients they will probably lie in court on the witness stand even after taking an oath to tell the truth. My impression was he was probably going to then advise the woman after learning from me, and I asked him if he had a Hawaii law license . He said no, so I told him that advising a third party would be practicing law without a law license which is illegal , and in fact a criminal offense. <br>He apparently did not like the truth , but my role is to advise on the correct interpretation of the law so persons can avoid getting themselves in trouble. She was annoyed and persistent when I would not accept their erroneous view of the law.
