I was really disappointed with my experience. The fees were much higher than what other attorneys quoted me for the same type of case. I was also encouraged to use a specific drug and alcohol counselor whose rates were about five times higher than other options I found, which didn’t feel right to me. During my case, I felt there were mistakes or miscommunications in court, and only afterward did I start getting calls explaining what happened. The whole situation left me feeling uneasy and unsupported. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t hire this attorney again — in my opinion, you could get the same or better outcome with a less expensive attorney or even a public defender.

I didn't know it at the time I called in to the Tim Powers office, but my case was not the sort of thing these attorneys handled. In fact, I knew very little about my case because it happened 15 years ago while I was moving out of the state. I called several government offices and they wouldn't give me any useful information in regards to what I owed or needed to do to get my record clean. When I called this office, I was at my wits' end, calling any attorney whose number I could find in Denton County. I was connected with Nicholas Ford. The first thing he did was tell me there was nothing their office could do to help me. The second thing he did was help me more than the previous 3 hours I'd spent searching govt sites and calling court buildings. Seriously, he was like, "Yeah, sorry, we don't handle that kind of case at this firm, but let me just see what I can find real quick..." In 19 minutes this man took me from near-complete uncertainty about my situation to a clear game plan. Just outta the kindness of his heart. Unbelievably kind and professional, but the human-to-human connection, the altruism, that's what really shined through. Dude could've just hung up on me, you know? I almost want to move back to Texas and do some crime so I can hire these guys, but instead I'll settle for leaving this review and recommending them to my friends.

If your reading the reviews to help you decide whether this would be a good attorney/law firm to hire for any legal assistance, I can tell you from my own experience it is NOT. Tim will tell you what you want to hear and make everything sound good, but doesn't fall through with it. . $5000 for 2 cases (class A and B theft) and didn’t even deliver. Save your money, because a court appointed attorney would probably work harder to get you a way better deal. I had the worst experience with his attorney Halle Brown, who was rude, unprofessional and put very little or barely any effort on my case. Every time i spoke with her it was an unpleasant conversation even over the phone, she would constantly speak over me, cut me off, gave me attitude and made faces like she seemed bothered and upset to represent me at every court appearance. Right away she wanted me to take the first offer (18 months probation) on the my first court appearance without even trying to dismiss it, lower it or even study my case to defend me because she didn’t want to “waste time starting probation” then lied and said i had been the one who said that when i complained. And when i complained about her work ethics and requested a different attorney from their law firm to represent me i was told by the secretary’s that they couldn’t do that, it would have to be Halle or i would have to hire another attorney and when i asked if they would be refunding me my money they changed the rates from a flat rate of $5000 to an hourly rate and said they would charge me by the hour, add it and then let me know what I would still owe them. I hired them back in September of 2025 called for weeks asking to speak to her to get information on my case because i did not know anything, and i didn’t get to speak to her until a week before I had my first court appearance, in the beginning of December and when I finally spoke with her i asked her basic questions about her experience, and my case and all she could tell me was that she didn’t know. Literally i dont know, i dont know, i dont know is what i kept hearing. You hire an attorney to handle these situations for you and give you some peace of mind but through the whole process i was only more stressed out. And to top it off they also just recently tried to bill me $7500 for each case (x2) for a trial that i never agreed in paying once they informed me it would be additional. Save your time and your money, not worth it.

My case is still an active case pending to close 1/16. Please if your care about your future use another law firm. I have 3 children, 1 on the way, 33 years old, no criminal record and had an incident where I’m being charged with state felony for a DWI with a child under 15YO. The most craziest part is my alcohol level was at .06. & Becky the associate who goes in there and represents you and supposedly fights for you basically said. The judge can prove you were intoxicated with examination if you take this to trial. Because lord knows I was going to OR you can plea guilty for state felony. (Mind you in this moment I knew nothing about the legal system) this is my first offense. I should have hired a lawyer that would have direct contact with the judge and not some associate. Please know you can hire council (another lawyer if you do not like where things are going) 3 years of my life to literally end up in the same scenario if I had hired Tim powers or NOT. Mind you, I have a breathalyzer in my car for 3 years now with no violations. The biggest factor what happens if I get fired from my job one day and they re run my background? EVERYONE knows it is so difficult for a felon to get a job. I am the sole provider to my children, 33 years old!!!!! & you are going to charge me with a STATE FELONY?! my children will end up on government assistance as will I due to this if something in my life changes. The fact that she or TIM could care less about this massive charge on someone is wild to me. Please go to someone else. 15k paid the same damn day was not worth the 3 years of just to be charged with a STATE FELONY.

I used Tim Powers when I had a incident happen in Denton which involved me getting a Felony and a few misdemeanors. Mr. Powers was able to get my Felony Nolled, meaning the District attorney's office will not pursue the charge against me. If you catch yourself in trouble in Denton or surrounding area, please do yourself a favor and reach out to his office. It was the best decision I could have made. God bless yall

Never met Mr. Powers in real life. I paid him $7000 the same day of my one and only phone consultation with Mr. Powers. Unbeknownst to me Tim Powers would not be representing me. He immediately pawned me off to another lawyer in their office Grace Wren. If you want a lawyer who will give 100% of their attention to your case you need to go somewhere else. At each court date Ms. Wren called out and met with >15 other clients and once she finally got to me she just rushed through the process. She wanted to get it settled as quickly as possible and did not explain the ramifications of accepting the 10 year deferred adjudication sentence were going to be. She did not offer any options besides accepting the first offer they gave us. Would have been nice to have a lawyer that actually did some lawyering and who could remember my name.. Go somewhere else if you care about your freedom. P.S. I tried calling their office a couple months later just to ask a few questions and they literally told me that I was no longer a client and that they would not answer any of my questions.
