Leon Rothstein, Attorney at Law

You don’t get a lot of one star reviews for being a five star lawyer. Keep that in mind before you hire this guy.

I hired John Alegria, and his partner Leon Rothstein, to do an appeal for a divorce case. At first John was ok, but something struck me odd. Later on, I always got referred back to Leon, because he never really knew anything about my case although I received invoices from him. My first appeal was a nightmare. I had to correct then many times. Vast amounts of answers calls or emails. The response I did get did not cover everything I asked. They did poorly on the first appeal after the judge was told she made some errors, so I did a second. This is where things got really messy. Leon never ordered my transcripts. My brief was in late. During this time when I did get an answer, he said time was on my side. I saw the opposing counsel put in for a dismissal and did not know it was because he neglected his job until I went to the hearing. Leon told the judge he would go downstairs and order the transcripts. He never did according to court records. I also found out he filed my brief late, while not telling me it was late, without my final approval. John was MIA during this time. Ultimately, my case was dismissed because of their neglect. I am currently looking into legal action since I was forced to pay out a settlement of 58k when by Idaho Supreme Court rulings from other case I only should have paid about 3k. DO NOT hire either of these two. I also provided Leon with a flash drive with personal information on it relating to my case. I have yet to receive it back and am sure he lost it at this point. Leon admitted he neglected his job and no response from Jonn. I fired them both and negotiated the settlement with opposing counsel myself.

A nightmare. Please read this before you are robbed of your money, reputation, energy and what ever it is you are trying to keep by hiring a lawer. Mr. Rothstein"s refusal to defend me, inability to communicate, lack of attention, and lack of any effort to listen and convey my wishes has not only cost me financially but lost me my children. He has withheld paper work I was promised for months, never once been proactive about returning my communications, allowed my ex's lawer to slander my name despite evidence to the contrary so often in court that the judge has completely accepted those lies as truth and regurgitated those same things in court with out Mr Rothstein bothering to argue against it. He's neglected to tell me court dates where via zoom till 20 minutes before. I didn't see the email until 6 minutes after the hearing started. Then when a helpful officer at the court house brought me to him because he was taking the zoom call in the hall another six minutes later, he allowed the judge to believe I never bothered to show up. He has left verbiage in paperwork that I have told him was false and allowed my ex"s lawer and the judge herself to mock me in court for it's inclusion. He has lost important papers in my case and instructed me to resend them to him despite the fact that he gave them to me in the first place. He has allowed eloquently writen letters from expert witnesses to be discarded in court without argument. He has not read the accusations nor considered the "evedence" my ex has presented against me and acts surprised when I bring it up saying I should send it to him even though he's the one that gave it to me. He has sided with my ex and given me advice based on the lies being told. In the end, my children where everything to me and I have fought for three years to get them back after I was accused of domestic violence by my ex fiance who has give two other women a domestic violence record for them defending themselves against him (he brags about the police siding with him because he was calm and those women and my self where scared and hysterical) In the end I was given a withheld judgment (assault) for throwing a mail organizer on the floor. Apparently it scared my 6 foot 4, 230 lb bouncer fiance (I am 5 foot 1 and weighed 106 lbs at that time and am a kind and considerate ballet teacher by trade) I could go on about how badly that case was handled as well by the lawer who recommended Mr Rothstein but I was desperate and stupid enough to listen. What i have presented here is only the tip of the iceberg. Mr. Rothstein should be disbarred for his lack of professionalism and complete failure to even attempt to do his job that he's being paid thousands for. Please save yourself. Don't walk, RUN away from this law practice.

Excellent experience with Mr. Rothstein, he was very upfront on what to expect with our first meeting. I spoke with multiple attorneys and he was more proactive on researching my situation then any of the others. Thank you so much for everything you have done for my family.

leon was either incompetent, lazy or had an undisclosed conflict of interest. Cost thousands of dollars and when I expressed my dissatisfaction he withdrew. I would call him a thief.

Custody- This "Attorney" Will Come in strong & hear you out At your 1st Meeting with him, I went with him in desperate need & he was the only one that was able to get me in same day & Affordable, He is not professional & Very Rude, He wasted 5 months of my time for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I ended up having to get a substitution of attorney due to his lack of work on my case, it got no where during the 5 months I had him besides drafted paperwork, I was so lost. He is not organized by any means & his communication is terrible, You will constantly have to repeat yourself & Refresh his memory, Each time I called, Save your time & money. DO NOT CHOSE HIM!!

Does not fight for his clients. Starts off very strong then feeds you to the wolves. Waste of time and money does not help you at all. He sides with the opposing counsel and the person you are up against.

Called for a consult after finding them on Google. Leon was rude, dull and monotone right out the gate and was extremely interruptive and disrespectful. For him stating any law firm is reputable yet he was treating possible future clients the way he was In wondering how he’s even still an attorney. Told me he didn’t care what the other was charging me or how even though he asked then interrupted the second I started answering his question. Said he was going to charge me a retainer of $1,500 and a $200 an hour fee for him time and even with that that he couldn’t guarantee anything would even come of it. Completely worthless, if I had read the horrible reviews about him first I would of NEVER wasted my time calling. I would NEVER invest in this attorney and I will be contacting the BBB, the Bar and the attorney general about him after this review. If there was a negative number to give that would be what I chose.

He has helped us out a lot with my fiancé's divorce and child custody battle.

I would have given him zero stars if it were an option. All i asked from him was a simple email addressing what we went over payment details ect. Considering we were talking while i was at work and had nothing to write with i figured that was the least he could do. No he refused to go over it twice and told me he didn't think we would get along very well and hung up on me. Little does he know i could have paid his fee yesterday so he should be careful who he treats like a peasant bc with that kind of attitude he wont be sitting in that chair very long

Very RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. Told me more about how he didn’t want to help me than anything else. Complained about my benefit company ARAG. “not paying him”. Just an all-around HORRIBLE Experience. He will not care about you or your matters in any regards. Just how he is going to get paid!!
