I highly recommend Raemi Gilkersen for anyone needing a will/estate plan in Washington. Our wills were originally done in 2004 and many regulations had changed since then so needed all documents rewritten. It was very important that our lawyer listen to us and consider what was the best approach for our particular situation. We were worried that our ignorance of precisely what we needed would prevent us from knowing the right questions to ask. As a result, we went into our meetings with some trepidation. We were consistently surprised by Ms. Gilkerson’s attention to detail, her obvious breadth of knowledge and her sincere interest in us and our needs. Having Healthcare Directives in place was very important to me because of my experience working in the healthcare field for twenty years. I have seen how difficult it was for family members to make decisions when their loved one was close to death. If they have this person’s wishes spelled out in a directive it is so helpful and something everyone should address before it is needed. Also, and this was unexpected. My husband sent part of of our will to one of our nephews (in-his-late-thirties) to ensure that the items we were willing to him would not upset his brother. Our nephew’s instant reaction was, “Gee, you reminded me I need to make a will because I’ll be getting married soon.” It was a good feeling to know he knew how important wills, estate planning, power of attorney for finances and healthcare, and healthcare directives can be, because life isn’t always predictable. Ms Gilkerson spoke in understandable words, not legal jargon, which helped us know we were getting the care and professional help we needed. In short, we had no wishes or hopes that Ms. Gilkerson didn’t fulfill patiently, completely, and professionally.

Raemi has been absolutely incredible. I originally was working with her when I moved from CA to WA with my husband and child. She helped us create all of the documents we needed to ensure the safety and support of our child should anything happen to us. She then helped me this Fall (2022) after my divorce to update all of my documents to ensure my child is still safe and supported if anything were to happen to me. I highly recommend Raemi because she does her due diligence prior to writing anything up, gives you a chance to read through and ask questions on your own time, and then signing is quick and painless. I appreciate her guidance and help!

Rachel Leos helped guide me through the process of writing a will now that I have a child on the way. There can be a lot of complex decisions to make, and Rachel was helpful with ideas to consider that helped to move the conversation forward. When I asked to make a couple changes to the will after seeing the first draft, she was supportive and quickly made those updates. I look forward to working with her again when I make the next update to my will in 5 years or so.
