In February 2023, I was riding my bike on A1A when I was hit by a vehicle that failed to yield the right of way. I fractured my pelvis in four places. Being a snowbird, I figured my healthcare provider, once notified, would step in and engage with the hospital, doctors, radiologists, orthopedists, physical therapists and all the other entities that had a hand in my care and recovery. After strong urging from my friends to retain a lawyer, I contacted Lesser, Lesser, Landy and Smith; more specifically, Steven Clarfield, about two weeks after the accident. And then, things got easier. In essence, Steven became my advocate. He engaged with my healthcare provider, the hospital, the doctors and the physical therapists regarding payment. He also represented my personal injury claim with the driver’s insurance company and coordinated with my healthcare provider regarding their claim for damages. I received regular calls from Steve during this process, asking about how I was progressing and my recollections of the accident. He regularly updated me on the progress he was making. I always knew what was going on and it made me comfortable. Steve’s initial contact with the driver's insurance company was a non-starter. They refused to acknowledge that the accident even occurred. Steve and his able assistant, Ella, did their due diligence. They contacted the police and witnesses and were able to produce a claim that was, well, irrefutable.
