I retained M&A Law Firm in November 2024 to litigate a real estate breach of contract case. As we were discussing my case, Ahmed Motiwala explained that he worked on an hourly basis and while he couldn’t estimate the number of hours my case would require, he was confident it would cost between $5,000 and $10,000 to litigate. We were asking for $21,000 in damages plus legal fees. Over the course of a year, I paid more $27,000 to M&A Law Firm – a far cry from the $10,000 estimate. And, yes, more than the actual damages. In the end, a panel of mediators awarded me $7,000 (of the $21,000 requested) and $0 in legal fees. For those doing the math, I spent 27,000 to get a judgment of just $7,000. Hardly worth the effort. I understand there are no guarantees in litigation, but our case was solid. Technically, we “won” in court, but I would call the entire experience draining – both personally and financially. And when it came time to collect the judgment, my attorneys were nowhere to be found. Had to figure that out myself. Litigant beware.
