I wanted to say a thing or two about Madia Law. Madia Law was added to our legal team several years into our Civil Rights/Wrongfull Death Law Suit. My son had been killed by a police officer who was wrong for shooting our son. Benjamin Evans was a 23 year old who served the public. He was a firefighter and EMT who only wanted to help everyone who needed assistance. The night he was shot he was in crisis. He was physicaly in pain from a injury sustained on a EMS call. But he was also in emotional pain, having broken up with his girlfriend who had betrayed him with one of his best friends. He had gone out with his firearm with the intent to commit suicide. Before he went out he called one of his best friends, a call for help. She, a paramedic herself call the police and asked for them to check the well being of Ben. Long story short Ben never pointed his gun at the officers and the officer that shot him did so without warning even after he had been ordered to use a non lethal bean bag shotgun. We were seeking justice for Ben and our family. Our attorneys, with Madia Law leading the efforts, fought for us without a second thought. I grew up around a lot of attorneys including my father who was a trial attorney in Oklahoma. I was truely impressed with their compassion and expertise. The lead the fight in the Federal Courts and ended up taking the case to the Eighth Circut Court of Appeals. Where they were affirmed with their decision to continue the case at jury trial. Never had the other side during court ordered negotiations meet and negotiated in good faith. Several weeks prior to jury trial the other side finally made a offer that was resonable and would provide for Ben's now 8 year old daughter. Madia's and the rest of the attorneys steadfast support and compassion helped us to make it to the end of the nightmare. Hopefully the rulings by the judge and the Federal 8th Circut Court of Appeals will help with education and make officers think twice before taking a life. Respectfully, William O.
