The lawyer who handled my asylum case helped me change my court address, get my work permit, and my Social Security number. She speaks English, but they have secretaries who are always there for you, providing translations. They are very kind and dedicated. They really helped me a lot throughout my entire process. The lawyer is incredibly patient and a very good professional. We worked together for a year until I requested voluntary departure. Today, I'm returning to my country, but with the good news that the judge didn't impose any punishment, thanks to my lawyer and because I followed all the rules. I know I'll be back soon with a visa. Very bad experience with this law firm. I went to this law firm to consult for I-131 application. This first attorney gave me a call last Friday and we talked for about 10 minutes. She told me that people cannot travel outside U.S. while I-485 is pending, otherwise the I-485 application would have been deemed as abandoned. I told her while this is correct for most people, it is not true for H1B visa holders according to USCIS website - it is clearly written on USCIS website. The lady said she would need to look into that. But I started to loose faith in this attorney because it does seem like she’s not very familiar with the issues I need to consult for. So I called the office and said I wanted to have the consultation with a different attorney. They rebooked me to Wednesday at 5pm with a different attorney. Then around 5:10pm on Wednesday, I called the office because I still hadn’t received a call from the new attorney, and only until then they told me the attorney had a schedule conflict and cannot make it on Wednesday. But they didn’t tell me before until I called. They rebooked me to the next day (today). Then about 1 hour before the scheduled appointment today (just now), the office called me again and said they need to cancel the appointment because of the back and forth they had with me (the front desk lady said “because of all the conflicts you have created” - which sound like I am the one causing troubles) and they think I should go look for advice somewhere else. Very unorganized process. Not responsive to client requests. Not familiar with the subject matter. Last minute change / cancellation with no heads-up / not enough lead time.
