My civil case is still ongoing. It concerns a blatant statutory violation, and it will send shockwaves through the system. 5 years ago, I was denied by Mattox via email(I still have the email). Recently, I got word that Mattox picked up 2 cases in my area. I called back today, so I could follow up with questions(give it a second go). The receptionist seems to have an attitude like she’s Elle Woods’ alter ego. It wasn’t a pleasant interaction. Not sure if she was in the weeds, having a bad day, or normally rude. She was on the phone with the best Pro Se attorney the U.S. Constitution has ever produced, and she was mean for no reason. Dotting T’s and crossing I’s, God as my witness since ‘89. I thought I was talking in the kindest way possible until she hit me with the mic check. I had to hang up. I took the phone call as an instant denial; so, denied 2 times. But after the phone call, I’m happy I got denied. If the receptionist is like that, I don’t want to experience how the attorney is. Might be a good attorney but damn…. :(

I had Jim Garrity as my lawyer, who id reccomend to anyone and also dealt with the billing department. There was some issues with receiving the payment but the billing department was right on top of it, specifically Katie Morgan. They resolved the issues and kept in great contact. Had a great experience.

I contacted this firm for assistance because I’m in desperate need of a lawyer to represent me in serious issues happening at the workplace but I can’t get them to help me I guess my issues are not important to them I have called back like I was told but I didn’t hear back yet I need immediate assistance asap for on going issues at the workplace

For those of you considering this firm....ONE WORD...DON'T!!! They don't answer phones or return phone calls, more importantly, they don't show up for appointments and then they don't contact you to reschedule. They did this to me TWICE. I had to send an email to the firm in order to get a return call. When I did finally get to speak with one of their attorneys (Mr. Thomas Dickens) not only was he rude, but he was very defensive, stating "Im not gonna risk my license for your case". This was before we even began to talk about the case, which I thought was very "Weird". Where did that come from"? Speaking with him briefly, he obviously knew nothing about my case. I asked him if he read the very detailed statement that I sent, required as a part of their intake procedure. He told me that he did not. (At least he was honest) How can you give any type of legal advice if you don't know anything about the case at hand??? This guy just wanted to talk over me, and he rambled on for 15 minutes and did not say anything useful at all. My first impression was "INCOMPETENT". After listening to him say nothing for a bit, I finally told him I was wasting my time and ended the call. I then sent an email asking for Ms. Mattox to call me regarding the very unprofessional call. It is no surprise to me that this call will probably never be made. CRICKETS once again. For those of you considering this firm, please check other more experienced and competent attorneys first. This one is the "Poster Firm" for fast talking, money mongers who care nothing about you and only about the bank deposit at the end of the day. Update: I have found that the small amount of information that I did glean from the conversation was incorrect and now my time limitations have passed. Thank you Mr. Dickens and Ms, Mattox!

Sucks !!!!! Believe me don’t waste your time use a different attorney. I used Marie Maddox for a civil matter and I got to say she sucked. She withheld evidence from me that I did not know about. We went to trial and lost. No one could even understand her in the courtroom because she was steady packing her mouth with Nicorette gum, understand anything she was saying she was nervous, she has not bulldog. After the case, she rushed out of there didn’t say anything to me. She is all talk and no action believe me do not waste your time with this law firm

They are not true civil rights attorneys. I gave a clear and concise explanation and their response to me is that civil litigation is too expensive. They don’t respect contingency agreements. They know I have a case but they rather not put in the work to get paid putting in the work first.

I was in a dog fight with some “Big Wigs” & Attorney Katherine Viker fought for me all the way to the door. She’s a very intelligent and strategic attorney. She kept me in the loop on the progress of my case. I’m satisfied with my service and with the award settlement.

My experience with this firm was very disappointing. The attorney, Dickens, I spoke with was dismissive and fast-talking, offering only his personal opinions instead of explaining the actual laws or reasons why I could or couldn’t sue after being fired on FMLA. I wasn’t looking for opinions—I expected guidance backed by facts and legal knowledge. Instead, I was told to “get another opinion.” On top of that, the front desk staff was rude and unprofessional, which only added to the negative experience. I left the conversation with no clarity, no direction, and feeling completely disregarded.

Mr. Dickens and the whole team from Mattox Lawfirm have been exceptional regarding communication, customer service, keeping me in the loop, being a steady hand guiding me through every step of a process that is completely foreign to me. I relinquished all trust in Mr. Dickens and Mrs. Mattox team to help and guide me through this process and they delivered every step. I’m grateful that this chapter can be closed and can put it behind me. Only wish I could’ve met them all in person to shake their hand and tell them THANK YOU! For all yall do and continue to do for every client.

We've had a lawsuit that's been going nearly 6 years just going in circles. Unbelievable don't know what to believe anymore.

My husband’s case has been going on since 2019 and hasn’t had an update since 8/24. I’ve called multiple times with a promise of a call back- never happened, countless emails - never a response back. If you want results and actions taken on your case DO NOT USE this firm.

My sister (Christina) is a client here and we HAVE to make a second review (she reviewed already) to rave about Katherine. From the beginning this firm has been incredible, easy to follow and without a doubt carries the presence you want by your side in a legal fight. HOWEVER, now we are in the actual nitty gritty of the case and I have gotten to know Katherine well. The wit and intelligence this outgoing, spit-fire woman brings is so refreshing. To see the vigor, care, knowledge, and kindness all tied into one lethal torpedo whose wisdom AND charisma allow her to confidently and swiftly respond to these opposing attorneys, is wonderful. Who needs coffee to energize you when instead I can listen to Katherine's responses to the opposing counsel, who try to dig frivolously into our lives and / or send us on wild goose chases requesting irrelevant documentation in attempts to harass, deter, and waste our time. I cannot stress how good of a team this is. From the Paralegal, Shannon, all the way up; everyone I have spoken with is a wonderful representation of what you picture when looking for a Civil Attorney.

Since the firm has now chosen to respond, I’d like to offer a revised version of my original review to clarify and expand on my experience. Maria Mattox and Jim Garrity have developed a reputation—at least in my view—for being among the least effective attorneys I’ve encountered. Their approach to legal representation seems to center around taking only the most clear-cut, low-effort cases. If your legal matter requires any significant time, energy, or commitment, it’s likely you’ll be turned away without much explanation. It’s also clear that their interests are heavily weighted toward high-profile or potentially lucrative lawsuits—like the recent case Jim filed against Zaxby’s—rather than providing support to everyday clients who are seeking real help. That prioritization leaves those in genuine need feeling overlooked and unimportant. The internal dynamics of the firm don’t inspire confidence either. Maria seems overly reliant on Jim, which raises concerns about her ability to act independently and make sound legal decisions—something critical in a profession that demands strong individual judgment. To make matters worse, the receptionist’s condescending attitude creates an unwelcoming, dismissive atmosphere from the start. Communication is perhaps the most troubling part of my experience. It took six weeks—yes, six—for the firm to respond to my initial claim. When they finally did, it was simply to dismiss it, with no meaningful explanation or follow-up. In legal matters, where time and clarity are vital, this level of delay and disregard is simply unacceptable. Ultimately, the entire experience left me feeling ignored and disrespected. It’s apparent that Mattox and Garrity prioritize cases with financial gain over those that require real advocacy. If you’re looking for legal professionals who will take your concerns seriously, communicate clearly, and actually advocate on your behalf, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere.

I cannot stress how Attorney Mattox and her team have been doing a phenomenal job with my case. I highly recommend this law firm for obtaining justice. It was clear that my case would be a process that would take some time. They kindly and promptly assisted me step by step. Going through a lawsuit can be challenging, but in my situation, it was a relief to have the perfect representation & support that I needed, and they were willing to do everything in their power to right the wrong.
