Complete lack of professionalism and decency.

She is the absolute worst attorney that you can hire! She has no ethic and she 100% only cares about getting paid She recently was defending somebody in family court, Who had connections with one of her OLD clients. (July 2025 The greedy money hungry woman) left a voicemail to her old client wanting to rush the process for the case she basically wanted money to start up a case) anyways fast forward 3 months later This silly woman defended her new client who had arguments and statements On why the old client is bad My question is did she lie when she defended the old client during his court cases? Or was she lying recently with her new client. ? Again, I have transcripts of Carolyn Markowitz Defending old client and speaking of him in a good light. But as soon as somebody completely different comes into her office with some money , WHO she shouldn’t even have represented Because of the connection she has with the old client She throws all old client paperwork away again, it was 100% unethical at her part to even accept a new client as soon as she started hearing his claims She should’ve connected the dots and realized he was an old client of hers And before all this even happened, we 100% was looking forward to hiring her again. She doesn’t know your name, she will not know your children’s name, she is 100% unprofessional. It doesn’t matter if you have a scheduled appointment she will not take the time to read your case or your name or your child’s name until you’re sitting in front of her. She accepts and takes too many cases, and it just bombards her brain. She comes to court late, she comes to court unprepared, I 100% will not let this go maybe may start a protest here in the next couple of weeks or months, but this will not be forgotten. Don’t speak or disrespect my character just for some money my integrity is not for sale! Even if you think this blows over, I will be there blowing it back up

Carolyn Markowitz was my lawyer and she did not communicate with me before hearings. She cost me to lose my case because she was being cocky. Instead of putting the child support hearing on hold until custody was established she just did whatever and did not act in my son's best interest or mine. I wouldn't recommend this lawyer to anyone. My aunt spoke highly of her father, wish I could say the same for his daughter. Worst lawyer I ever encountered I was better off fighting my own case instead if wasting money for an incompetent, non communicating lawyer.

Mr Markowitz handled my divorce 1978,my father divorce in 1981 Mr Jimmie Carter and now my niece Stephanie Redmond. I will send all family and friends to your law firm. Thanks 🙏

Good representation @ a good rate

I’m so glad Carolyn was recommended to me. She always returned my emails and my phone calls and got more than I expected in my settlement. I don’t work on Friday, so a lot of communication was done on Fridays and she went above and beyond to meet my needs! I’ve already recommended Carolyn to a couple of my friends! I can’t thank you enough Carolyn for getting what was important to me.

Had a terrible experience with them. Showed up to court multiple times unprepared and with out provided documentation that was provided to them for proof of payment for child support. Put my family in a bad situation financially where the renewal of my Uncles (US Citizen) passport was dependent on the resolving of this issue and it was needed for him to keep his job. Now him and his wife and 3 kids are about to be out of a home and a job in a foreign country due to this Firms incapability to show up prepared for their job. They also failed to get the witness to testify to receiving the payments mentioned. Would highly recommend to stay away from this unprofessional place of practice. Will be filling a complaint with the BBB and State Bar Association.

I highly and strongly do not recommend, and my reasoning for this is because, any motion that was filed I could have did myself. The communication is absolutely horrible and I see that with other reviews as well! We pay hard earned money for things that we can do ourselves. You just have to read and do your research, unless your situation is critical! It was embarrassing that a judge is stating that my Lawyer did not file an appearance in court, we were supposed to be there in person but she insisted it was on zoom. I had to enforce what she should have said for me! This will be the last time. If you are not dealing with a criminal matter go to wherever you have to file a motion and ask. Plain and simple! Educate yourself.

This was the worst experience of my life she quoted me a fee of 1500 for a change of custody case and then because the case went longer then expected she charged me an additional 1,500 for doing absolutely nothing on my behalf. She said very little in court and she was repeating things that wasn't true and it was just one big mess. After a year my daughter is still in the same situation she was before highering this lady. Smh I do not recommend her at all!!!

Great law firm

Carolyn & her father represented my brother back in 2008 and did an excellent job! He won full custody and kept all his retirement/pensions. I just hired Carolyn to represent me and I’m excited to work with her or her father. They go by the law and enforce it.

Carol gets the job done. Period.

I’ve had a great experience with Carolyn as my attorney during my family custody case. I’m shocked to see so many negative reviews. She’s been quick to respond to all my emails and phone calls, has billed me very fairly, has been patient while I’ve paid off what I owe, whenever I need to talk even for just five minutes she always makes time to speak with me. I’ve had great success in my case having her represent me, I’m satisfied with the outcome of everything, and having to go through all of this during a pandemic (everything has been incredibly slow) she has kept great communication and has been in the loop for everything. I couldn’t have found a better person to represent me I’m so thankful. Highly recommend Carolyn, she’s always had my best interest at heart, and has fought for me the whole way.

She did the same thing to me as Brian Ellison. I cut her from my team quick before it got to his amount. I paid a deposit she only went to court one time & pisssed the judge off instead of helping me. She didn't return a lot of my calls then made it look like I was not following the judges orders fast enough. Then I asked her for a detailed bill and that's when she told me that she would need more money to keep representing me. So $2800 for one meeting & one court date where she was unprepared & got me in trouble with the judge! She never gave me a detailed bill for any services before, during or after service . I have never had any attorney, never give me a detailed bill. I want my one star above back also. 0 stars! This experience with her scared me to death in court!

I hired her for a divorce and subsequent post judgment custody issues. After contracting her for a $3,500 divorce, I ended up paying over $12,000 and have absolutely nothing to show for it. At first I thought she was simply too busy to provide quality representation, but as time went on I saw more hints of her incompetence and dishonesty. She would never give me receipts or provide me with copies of documents she had filed, despite multiple requests. I paid her by the motion for several different actions. When she failed to file a response for me and there was no hearing on a motion I paid her for, she refused to return my money and tried to tell me she was working on my case on overtime with a standard hourly rate of $300. Over the course of 2 years there was never an hourly rate discussed, nor was it in the signed agreement. In the end, I'm worse off after having hired Ms. Markowitz. I highly recommend against anyone doing the same.

I want to start by saying I live in CT and my daughter has lived in MI with my ex since we split in 2009. For almost the past 2 years Carolyn has been fighting for me for custody of my daughter and not once did I feel that she was running me through the ringer for a pay check. She genuinely cares and it shows. The best part is we just won!!!!!!!! My daughter is now living with me in CT. If you are contemplating hiring her just do it. She is the best hands down.
