I have known Mr. Baker for many years. He represented me in my first case I ever got charged with and he got my charges dropped as I was actually innocent that time (still doesn't mean it's easy to prove) and he has always given me advice when I asked and he has appeared for my attorney now several times and if he wasn't getting ready to retire I would just hire him instead... Too bad cause I know he would do whatever he could to get me the best possible deal. Thank you Mr. Baker for all your help and advice through the years. I have retired myself so this will definitely be my last and final charge I will be fighting in court, so hopefully my attorney can help me like you did and have thank you and you will surely be missed!!!

Personally, I think Mr Baker has been a great attorney for many years. He has helped me tremendously in Juvenile court and in Adult Court and will be using him in the future. I have never seen him once compromise his integrity for anything. He is the most “on your side” attorney i’ve had and I’ve had many! Thanks again Mr. Martin Baker

Mr Baker represented my son when he was a juvenile my son recommended him for my nephew's case and Mr Baker did nothing but screw my nephew over royally he's a horrible attorney and I feel sorry for anybody who gets him. My nephew now is doing time in prison and he's never ever even been in trouble before. Mr Baker should be ashamed of himself for not at all doing your job. If I could do it all over again mr Baker would be the last person I would go to .

Response from owner

If this is the case I think it is, then the defendant was prosecuted under the career criminal statute (Penal Code section 999e) which prohibits plea bargaining. A loss at trial (even a partial loss) would certainly have resulted in substantially more custody time than the judge imposed when this defendant pled guilty as charged to avoid trial. A less experienced attorney might have yielded to the temptation to go to trial. <br>

I put my son's life in his hands I trusted my son's life with him and he failed us he failed us so bad he sent my son up for failure my son had never been in trouble in his life never ever Mr Baker said it was going to be a simple theft charge in it turned into two strikes and seven years after he went to lunch with the prosecutor he's changed on me he wouldn't answer my calls anymore he wouldn't tell me anything and he made my son he told my son that my son had to take that deal which he had never gotten offered not one deal in 9 months of being there with a 400,000 bail the whole time Martin Baker is horrible horrible person he is no good do not trust him after he went to lunch with the prosecutor he changed on me I don't even know how he sleeps at night they knew that my son was going to be desperate to take any deal because they went 9 months without giving him a deal a scared little boy not knowing anything about the law and Baker told him he had to take that deal to plead guilty to take two strikes and an open plea not even knowing what the sentence was going to be and he ends up getting 7 years and two strikes all because I trusted Martin Baker

Response from owner

This client (the reviewer's son) voluntarily pled no contest to two robberies and three felony thefts after being made fully aware of the state of the evidence and the potential consequences of the plea. As I make clear on my website, the only promise I will ever make to a potential or existing client is that I will do everything in my power to ensure that they are treated fairly and the best possible outcome is attained in their case. This case was prosecuted as a "career criminal" case under Penal Code section 999e, which legally prevented the DA from entering into a plea bargain, leaving the defendant with the choice of "pleading open" or going to trial. In many cases, including this one, going to trial can present a risk of a much harsher sentence, even if one or more charges are ultimately not proven to a jury. (By the way, I never went to lunch with anyone involved in the prosecution of this case.)
