I have called multiple times. The 1st time I called on 8/20/25, the woman I spoke with was rude to me and accused me of having a learning disability. I dont have a learning disability but wasnt able to hear her and stated as such. I record my phone conversations, so what im saying here is verifiable. Each subsequent time I have called, I have waited on hold for various periods ranging from 9 to 23 minutes in length. Im never given the opportunity to speak to someone as im hung up on each time. Today, someone hung up on me at 22 minutes 12 seconds.

Arrogrance and un-professionalism at its finest. And if you are someone who advocates for themselves because the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.... You will be chastised like a petualent child by an extremely unprofessional "leader" within this organization. AVOID AT ALL COST!

MVLS suggested me the perfect attorney I cannot thank them enough she worked very hard and she treated me with dignity respect like I was one of her own family members I would definitely recommend them for all legal needs!

Horrible. They don’t have enough staff, the process is repetitive and strenuous. Furthermore, you go through the process wait 30-60 days and they still either don’t have the staff or most of the time they don’t believe they can will. This program consist of lawyers who don’t really want to be lawyers but have the title. This place should be closed asap. In the coming budget cuts that are to come soon with the presidential administration, I bet this place is next. Just pay for an attorney folks, because this place is horrible will waste your time. Lastly, they only help women. If they don’t think they can win they won’t accept. Paid lawyers don’t think that way

Refuse to help me with representation for a 27 year old case for expungement. They could careless what your case upholds. I was also lied to by the volunteer attorney. MVLS is a joke nobody wants to hear they only have limited resources and get denied

Response from owner

Sorry that happened to you Andy. Have you tried reaching out to another free legal service to file your expungement? You can also call the district court to ensure your case is expungable in the state of Maryland!

I was referred to your organization years ago by a friend who spoke highly of the help he received in a custody case. When I first called, I was told you could not assist me because you “didn’t have the resources.” At that time, I was under relentless legal attack from an attorney at the Women’s Law Center, who fabricated protective orders, filed false criminal charges, and slandered my name in the courthouse, my son’s school, and even in the community where he played sports. She spread the lie that I was “the worst abuser they had ever seen,” despite the fact that I have never abused anyone in my life. I am also a survivor of domestic violence, a fact that is often dismissed because I am a man. I endured constant physical assaults, verbal abuse, harassment, and even the killing of my animals. I stayed in that situation to protect the children, and I was their full-time caregiver. Over the years, I called MVLS several times seeking help and was always told there were no resources available for me. Then, years later, I was shocked to discover that my ex’s case, built entirely on lies, was transferred from the Women’s Law Center to your organization. She was married the entire time her case was active, used her maiden name, and for over eight years has received completely free legal services under false pretenses. Her attorney, Laurie Ruth, has confirmed that she now lives out of state, yet she continues to receive full legal aid benefits. Meanwhile, I, someone who is truly disabled and has been denied any form of representation for years, continue to be shut out. This is not just unfair, it is a systemic failure that enables fraud while silencing and abandoning the very people who actually need help. Case # 03C11008206 People go ahead look up the case and how how big this is. All paid for by the Maryland legal Service Corp based on fraud with your tax dollars and donations

This “company” is a PONZI SCHEME… MVLS is setup to receive funding from the state or investors & donations and say they are providing legal services but yet don’t provide for anyone they waste your time having you take to an intake coordinator stating they need additional information then once you provide everything asked for they will send you a letter in a week or two stating they cannot assist you for some made up reason…..they don’t accept anyone’s case I talked to numerous people who have applied for services and all of them denied when they all met requirements listed….i WILL be contacting the MD INSPECTOR GENERAL regarding MVLS word of advice don’t waste your time even applying and giving out your personal private information…I will be opening a case with the inspector generals office TODAY.. ON EVERYONES BEHALF

You should close this office. They are not working. I called a lot of times for helping but no one’s answer the phone.

Been trying to get a lawyer for a custody case. Lawyers do not contact or update. I had to basically be my own lawyer, and call back to Mvls to see status as I still needed a lawyer and they said because my case was closed they couldn’t assist even tho I applied for services when case was open. Representative was rude and dismissive to my concerns and got me banned for receiving future services due to my dissatisfaction with the unprofessional service I was given. Literally would give a ZERO if I could, MVLS was a terrible experience for me. As a potential client or customer I have never been treated so rude and unwanted by a company.

The intake coordinator needs to be more professional, this is not the treatment anyone should receive when dealing with significant life changes. The website states that they do not give legal advice, but she is acting as a stop-gap between potential clients and the services offered. She was insulting and unpleasant to speak with, which led to me ending the call. I called back, hoping to get someone else, only to be met with her rude, unpleasant tone again, to which she hung up on me. My call directly to the Director will hopefully cause this young lady to humble herself and act as if she's in a role of service versus unbalanced power and authority.
