My case with Steve Matz Injury Law was that of a pedestrian wrongful death. My son’s death was caused by a 31-year-old unemployed man who was driving 70 mph through a red light at the busy intersection of Warren & Woodward Avenues, on Wayne State University’s campus. My son and I were very close, he had a promising life, he was tall, handsome, well-educated, a man of God and aspiring to attend law school. Before I could secure legal representation, I discovered that this case could be difficult; the driver had previous mental issues, and no insurance was known at that time. I vetted many law firms, almost all the well-advertised law firms, who charged the standard third (or more) fee, in addition to fees for timed phone calls and document charges, etc. My primary concern was that if my son’s case had a potential low settlement yield, how could I avert being nickeled and dimed with office charges over and above the firm’s 33+% fee. Following a near head on collision that left my wife with serious injuries to her leg and a head injury from the air bag that caused "instant onset dementia", she has been deteriorating and needs constant supervision. After reaching out to his law firm, Steve called us within a day, requesting information and then spent a tremendous amount of time (over the holidays and during the weekend) going through the documentation and discussing our case.
