Jessica Edmonds was the attorney that handled my case. It felt like 3 on one. It was a medical malpractice issue which can be very detailed, emotional and complicated. She was very through with all the paperwork (it was 2 full tubs of documents and then some) that she had to go through. I could not have been more pleased with her dedication and knowledge with regard to the smallest of details. She always put Mother first and that meant the world to me. She was professional, always on time, prepared, spoke up on my behalf when I was unsure and too emotional to answer and fought hard to come to an ending to a case that was emotionally draining on all. I called the law office to see if I had grounds to file a Medical Malpractice Suit based on Patient Abandonment. I was transferred to Carol, who asked me lots of questions in detail, and I was on the phone with Carol for one hour and two minutes. After Carol took all of my information, she said she would submit it to their team, and the team would review her notes, and if Mrs. McArthur thought she could win my lawsuit suit some someone would get back in touch with me. I was impressed with Carol because I had already called three or four other law firms, and the questions they asked were not as detailed. I was also impressed that Mrs. McArthur had hired Carol as a nurse because I think a nurse would be better at asking questions relating to a Medical Malpractice lawsuit because of Carol's extensive education, experience, and background in nursing and medicine. My mother is in the ICU right now with Doctors playing turf war with her life and refusing Medical Accommodations that can help save her life. I contacted Katherine McArthur and presented my case for 18 minutes this morning and was subsequently given a call back that displayed incredible disregard for my Situation Legally and an ignorance of Patient's Rights Laws. I was basically told our law firm can't help you unless she dies or something goes terribly wrong. Avoid. **UPDATE** = My Reply to their Response The firm's response proves my point exactly. They admit they "cannot provide immediate intervention" - which is precisely what families in medical crisis need. I didn't ask them to "direct medical decisions." I asked for what any competent patient rights attorney should provide: call hospital legal to pressure them into honoring my mother's written request for standard-of-care treatment, or advise on emergency injunctive relief. Their response reveals their business model: wait until the patient is harmed or dead, THEN pursue a malpractice case for damages. They have zero interest in preventing harm - only in profiting from it after the fact. "We cannot provide immediate intervention" = "We don't help until something goes terribly wrong" That's not patient advocacy. That's ambulance chasing. Other attorneys DO handle real-time medical rights cases. This firm chooses not to - whether from ignorance of the law or unwillingness to do the work. Fortunately, through persistent self-advocacy (no thanks to this firm), I secured my mother's IR consultation. But families facing similar crises deserve to know: this firm will not help you while your loved one is still alive and fighting. They'll only help after they're dead or something terrible goes wrong due to their failure to advocate within the bounds of the law. Choose accordingly.
