Kolby represented my ex, she would not file a release with the courts claiming I paid her client child support even though I had signed releases by her client. Had to get the judge involved to clear it up. Offered her client a reasonable offer she turned it down asking for ridiculous, far reaching, out of this world demands and judge eventually saw through her false claims. Very anti-father/anti-male biased representation from dealing with her with my ex's representation. Apparently she unfairly biased against males and attempts to cast father-hood in the worst light possible and I think she truly believes the male sex is wrong regardless. Ruined her clients, my life and my children's lives..... She put her wedding and bachelorette party before clients well being

From my limited interaction they are incredibly unprofessional.

Sophie Wanek was the opposing attorney in my court case and she falsely accused me of recording the hearing, which is a serious accusation. Her conduct not only undermined the judicial process but also raised significant concerns about her professionalism and ethics. If you’re looking for an attorney, you might want to explore other options in the Des Moines area.

This firm lacks integrity, professionalism, and honesty. They allow their clients to lie on stand, submit filings with information they know is false, and delete reviews often that do not recommend their business. If you are looking for a firm with integrity and honesty and will uphold the code of ethics, absolutely go elsewhere and do not waste your money on them.

Ita disappointing to have to make a bad review on my ex husbands (now former) attorney, however, the child is who is really affected by lack of care.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Kolby, who was appointed as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for my son. To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. From the outset, it was evident that Kolby lacked the professionalism and objectivity one would expect from a Guardian ad Litem. Their actions were not only unprofessional but also deeply manipulative, leaving me questioning the integrity of the entire process. Throughout the proceedings, it became increasingly clear that Kolby had a preconceived bias that clouded their judgment. Instead of advocating for the best interests of my child, Kolby seemed more focused on advancing her own anti-father agenda. This blatant bias was not only disheartening but also detrimental to the fair and just resolution of the case. In my opinion, the performance of Kolby as a Guardian ad Litem was nothing short of a disservice to the very principles they are supposed to uphold. It is disheartening to think that someone with such a lack of professionalism and objectivity is entrusted with representing the best interests of children. After doing some further research she is avidly pro-abortion. Oh, the irony. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. I strongly advise anyone considering Kolby to proceed with caution. My experience with them has left me questioning the integrity of the entire legal process, and I sincerely hope that others do not have to endure the same ordeal.

Maureen Cosgrove is second to none. She is ethical and has a high amount of integrity. Maureen will do what is right and she will not stand for bullying or harassing behavior. Thank you, Maureen, for giving me a voice. 🥹

I had hired Kolby as A lawyer going threw a divorce and child custody. You can tell she is incompetent and unfit for her profession. She is very bad at communicating and does things when she wants. She charges for any email, call, text which I understand some lawyers do that but I’m her case was because she was not understanding what she should be doing. I had to walk her through filling out documents and how to word them correctly. I was also having to repeat what I wanted out of it because she would put what she would like on there essentially favoring the other party. She is very unprofessional and stutters I’m front of the judge. Very unfit, inept and useless “attorney”

I never felt like I was in a stuffy law firm. Everyone was very personal. When I formed my LLC, I didn't know what paperwork I needed. Shayla took the time to explain more than just the paperwork. She gave me real tips about how to financially set up my business so that I would be successful long term - while staying within the law. I went back to her to secure my consulting services agreement which she made broad enough that I can use it in many different settings. I've also used her for personal matters. I know from many friends that also use Shayla and her firm that she specializes in adoption, fertility, divorce, and other family matters. Not only does she specialize in this area, but she treats the client with such care you instantly feel comfortable in her presence.

Shayla failed to meet several deadlines regarding a case of my families. She knowingly let deadlines pass with no explanation leaving my family and I to go above her and seek proof of malpractice.

Shayla and all of her staff are wonderful! I went through a very difficult cross state custody battle. Shayla went out of her way to communicate with my lawyer in Wisconsin to ensure that she was providing legal advice that was in my boys' best interest in both Iowa and Wisconsin. She did an amazing job with the discovery process and was incredibly prepared to represent me in trial. Nobody wants a divorce to go all the way to trial, but if it does, you want someone like Shayla representing you! This divorce could have financially destroyed me, as I earn a substantially higher income than my ex husband.
