Working with Mike was a great experience. Even though my case didn’t settle, that was not his fault. He truly listened to my concerns and was understanding while he navigated a very difficult case with my high-conflict ex-husband. Mike kept me focused, goal-oriented, and grounded in facts rather than emotion. He was professional, proactive, and made genuine efforts to resolve matters early, even when the opposing party caused delays. I’m very grateful for his guidance and would recommend him to anyone needing a knowledgeable and supportive attorney.

Response from owner

Wow..... Thanks so much Merada. It was a pleasure working with you, too.

I've known Mike since our days at Carroll and UD. Mike helped me update some legal documents for an elderly family member a few years ago and most recently reviewed an employment agreement for me. Mike was very professional, efficient, direct, cost-effective, and provided outstanding legal advice to me during the process. I would highly recommend Mike to my family, friends, and co-workers.

Response from owner

Thanks Frank!

Mike was my attorney during my divorce. He thorough, helpful, and kind. He explained in detail all of my options and the possible results of them all. I felt well informed and confident in my decisions regarding what to pursue for custody, child support, and splitting assets. Divorce is always emotional and at times contentious. Mike and Heather were so gracious when emotions ran high or spilled over. I am so thankful they were there to support me.

Response from owner

Thanks very much Sarah! Best of luck in the future.

Extremely rude and short-tempered. I'm glad he revealed his true colors before receiving any money. I literally called just to see if he could help my friend. I spoke to his assistant, who put me on hold, and then he picked up the phone. I started explaining the situation, but he showed no compassion at all. People call him for help with serious issues that affect their lives, yet he acted as if what I was saying didn’t matter. After our call, I read some of his replies to other people’s reviews, and he came across just as unprofessional there. He’s argumentative in the comments, just like he was on the phone. You can tell he has an ego—he seems like the type of person who always has a petty comeback. While I was explaining the issue, he cut me off, claimed I wasn’t answering his questions (I was), and dismissed what I was saying as irrelevant. Imagine telling a potential client that the very problems they would be paying you to solve don’t matter! Even if he thought I wasn’t answering correctly, does he really think it’s good business to talk to callers that way? -- Responding to Michael A. Sheets reply: There was no misunderstanding here. You explicitly stated that it "didn't matter." Your tone during the call was argumentative and came across as rude, you were nearly yelling. At no point did I claim that you interrupted me. However, the last question you asked followed right after you dismissed the issue as unimportant. I repeated your question to ensure I understood it correctly, and despite that, you continued with an unnecessarily aggressive tone. And yes, I chose to end the call. In customer service, the first interaction sets the tone for the entire relationship. When a customer or potential client approaches you with a concern, frustration, or question, it is critical not to dismiss them or make them feel as though their issue doesn’t matter. Even if their concern seems minor or unrelated to your business, your role is to listen first. Statements such as “that’s not a big deal” or “that doesn’t matter” is absolutely disrespectful. Especially during the very first interaction, showing patience, attentiveness, and empathy would have been nice. This is how you lay the groundwork. It's common sense that even small concerns can reveal valuable information about "what matters." Your approach came across as overly combative, which is not conducive to good customer service. I also noticed similar concerns raised in other reviews, which suggests this may be a recurring issue. This is basic customer service skills and by our one and only conversation, you don't have it.

Response from owner

I'm very sorry you feel that way. When you called, I simply tried to get the basic information that I needed to determine IF this was a case that I could handle. For instance, I tried to ask whether custody had been awarded to anyone, and I asked in what court it occurred. You did not answer and felt that I was interrupting you, but all I was trying to do was save you from wasting your time. I do not handle cases in certain counties, even though I get a lot of calls from clients in those areas. So I always like to establish where the case would be held. If for instance, your case was in Butler or Darke Counties, I would have quickly let you know that I couldn't help you. But that was information that I was not able to get.

I had no chance to show any compassion, because the call was terminated almost as soon as I asked those basic, informational questions. Your case mattered to me very much, I just wanted to get the basics that I needed to know to help you.

I answer questions because that is the best way to let people know how I handle things and how I respond to both positive and negative responses. I don't think I was rude OR argumentative, or that I felt what you had to say was irrelevant. I just wanted to know things about your case that would help me answer your questions in the best way.

I wish you the best of luck with your case, and I'm sorry that you felt I was not suitable for your needs.

Mike was amazing to work with for our step- parent adoption. He was very responsive, explained all possibilities to us, and handled everything professionally. Heather is also amazing with keeping track of everything! She was able to help answer a lot of our questions or Mike would get back with us same day to go over any questions we had. I would definitely use Mike’s services if ever needed again!

Working with Mike Sheets and his wonderful assistant Heather has been an absolute blessing. From the very beginning, his communication has been exceptional he keeps you informed, answers every question clearly, and always makes time for his clients, even when he doesn't have to. Mike is always just a phone call away, and that reliability has made all the difference during stressful times. What truly sets Mike apart is how much he genuinely cares. He doesn't just handle your legal matters he listens, understands, is honest and advocates fiercely on your behalf. I’ve turned to him for help on multiple occasions, and each time, he’s gone above and beyond to get the best possible outcome and lead me in the right direction. If you’re looking for an attorney who knows what he’s talking about, stands by your side, and truly fights for you, look no further than Mike Sheets. I can’t recommend him enough.

Michael A. Sheets was absolutely great to work with. From day one, he made the whole process feel a lot less overwhelming. He was super easy to talk to, always took the time to explain things in a way that made sense, and never made me feel like just another case. He really knows his stuff and you can tell he genuinely cares about helping people. I felt like I had someone in my corner the whole time, which made a huge difference. I’m really grateful for everything he did, and I’d 100% recommend him to anyone who needs a solid, dependable lawyer.
