I was referred to Douglas Novotny by a lawyer referral service in Omaha that helps tenants find legal assistance. At my initial meeting, it became clear that Mr. Novotny was unprepared, as he began by asking questions about my employer, unrelated to the tenant issues I was there to address. I presented him with a well-organized packet containing photographs and other evidence of clear legal violations by Cushman and Wakefield/Lund Company. He briefly glanced through it before informing me that he would need two hours at a rate of $250 per hour just to review the documents. After only a few minutes, he ended our meeting to "go over" the materials. However, just a few hours later, he emailed me asking for specific photographs related to work orders that had been unresolved for over a year—photos that were already included in the packet I had given him. This showed me he hadn’t actually reviewed the documents but still intended to charge for the time. Eventually, he suggested he could draft a letter to pressure the management company to complete the work orders but dismissed the more serious issues, like deceptive practices, retaliatory actions, and discrimination. He seemed to assume I was there for a worker's compensation issue and didn't recognize the specifics of my case or the appointment details. His only solution was a letterhead from his firm, which he claimed would solve the issue. I could write a letter myself; I sought his assistance for deeper legal violations. In summary, he appeared uninterested in justice or the core issues of my case, focusing only on profit. If you're looking for assistance with tenant matters, I'd recommend finding someone who demonstrates professionalism and integrity. Mr. Novotny might be effective in cases like worker's compensation or car accidents, but he seems unprepared, dismissive, and without a strong moral compass.

Not my attorney yet just because everything is going pretty good but soon for updates on wills and other issues I am sure. Thanks for the info. It was very helpful. Doug is Awesome.
