I cannot recommend Patrick Cotter enough for anyone in need of legal help. I was involved in a serious car accident over 4 years ago. I suffered soft tissue injuries that resulted in chronic pain and required regular chiropractic and physical therapy, which I still require. I sought legal counsel after I exhausted the monetary cap that my car insurance provided. Patrick was not the first lawyer I contacted. The first lawyer acknowledged that I had a fair case, but his opinion was that a soft tissue injury with only one witness was too hard to prove with too little of a reward to justify the risk. I then contacted a few “TV/Billboard Lawyers” but I was quickly alarmed by being promised a large payout, contrary to what I heard in my first consultation. It was then I contacted Patrick - based on a reference. Patrick had the same sentiments as the first lawyer, but he was willing to take the case because he knew me as an honest guy who was incurring pain and financial cost through no fault of my own. Although Patrick is also a criminal defense lawyer, with more important cases on his plate, his decision to help me, an everyday guy with an uphill battle against a car insurance company, speaks volumes to his character. Patrick walked me through the worst case, best case, and probable scenarios for a resolution – and he never presented the best-case scenario as the most probable scenario. As the process unfolded, it happened precisely as Patrick had told me in the first meeting. There were depositions, mediation, and then the trial. Throughout each step, Patrick had me prepared and we were able to put our best foot forward. The case went to trial and in the end, we won the case and settlement; it was the best-case scenario that he told me about but warned me not to expect. To say I was surprised and happy with the outcome would be an understatement. Patrick impressed me throughout the process with his knowledge and straightforwardness and even more so during the trial. He especially blew me away with his closing argument. I truly believe that with a lesser lawyer, we may have walked away with a smaller settlement, or worse, not won at all.
