Mr. Stephen Penner and Mr. Jeremy Purves recently handled a construction defect matter arising from the lack of appropriate waterproofing on my house. The contractor had gone out of business, and had transferred the assets of it's corporation to a different corporation to avoid liability to creditors like me whose homes they had improperly constructed. That action made the case extremely difficult, and, as a practicing attorney myself, I thought that my chances of recovery were slim to none. Mr. Penner and Mr. Purves worked with impressive skill, diligence and persistence in the face of just about every legal obstacle that the insurance defense counsel could mount. At the end, we mediated a very favorable settlement. Without their help, there is no question that I would have received zero reimbursement for my extensive repairs to the negligent construction. They are both top notch professionals.

Went to Stephen Penner for some simple estate planning...I do not recommend at all - he was rude, a poor communicator, and attempted to do a bait-and-switch on his pricing. When we arrived for our appointment he ignored us for almost an hour, then finally took down all our information that I had already given him over the phone, and at the end proceeded to tell us that he wanted to charge us many times over the previously negotiated rate for the service. This was for a simple will! I referred him to the previously negotiated rate - then he totally dropped us like a hot potato - no calls returned, no follow up with us, no apology for misunderstanding, nothing. Wasted hours of my time. Some research I should have done PRIOR to meeting with him also shows that he's had his license to practice law suspended more than once - not trustworthy.
