Balk isnt worth 25$ Do no choose balk if I was you🙏 I wish I would have listened to the reviews about him not fighting for the goal of the cases of his previous clients because he didn't fight for me AT ALL! His secretary worked harder then balk sending invoices for balk not doing anything Once he got the big down payment he sat back and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but charge me.. in fact When I set up an appointment IN HIS OFFICE TO show him the evidence he sat across the table in the lawyer's office in SILVIS , and he was POPPING HIS PIMPLES ON HIS ARM , he kept smashing pimples on his arm looking down at his arm as I was talking about the case.. he couldn't care less about the case or anything but the money He DIDN'T SPEAK 5 words for me in COURT. I'm not so sure he knows how to speak in the court room in 2 years he didn't say 5 words to fight for me ... what joke Do not choose balk unless u want to flush thousands down the drain and loose! BALK DOESN'T CARE I CANT SEE HIM BEING IN BUSINESS MUCH LONGER

Called for a free consultation. Was told the first 15 minutes were free, which I stayed well within. A few months later I get a bill. The receptionist stated I should have asked the lawyer if it was free. I told her I requested a free consultation when I set up the appointment, that would be up to receptionist to know who does free consults. Another bill follows, demanding payment. Talk about a switch and bait and unprofessional office. Would give no stars if I could.

Attorney Teel was fantastic! She was patient, caring and listened to our side of the situation. She then had the hole thing settled out of court and false charges against my wife and I terminated. Thank you Kate!

If I could rate less than one, I would. I strongly caution anyone considering working with Katherine Varlas-Teel. I hired her in March 2023 to handle my divorce, and what followed was a year-long experience of neglect, dishonesty, and unprofessional conduct. Despite being hired in early 2023, she didn’t begin actively working on my case until March 2024. When I hired her, she had mentioned she was busy and wouldn’t get to my case until at latest August 2023. That should have been my first red flag. In that year, she continued attending status hearings, billing my account, and leaving me in the dark about the progress (or lack thereof) of my case. For essentially a full year, I received no invoices, despite multiple requests, which I started requesting I believe in September 2023. I later learned that her assistant, Sally, had lied about attempting to locate and serve my ex-husband before March 2024, a lie that Katherine herself confirmed. When I expressed concern over the lack of communication, missing invoices, and confusion around the handling of my case, Katherine refused to address these issues in writing and insisted on phone calls (likely to avoid a paper trail). To make matters worse, the divorce decree had to be amended two other times due to her repeated oversights, and she attempted to charge me for the time spent correcting her own mistakes (which came out to the remainder of my retainer and then some). I escalated the issue to her partner, Steven Balk, who was equally dismissive and only took my call after I followed up ten minutes past our scheduled time. This experience was stressful, disheartening, and a complete betrayal of trust during one of the most difficult times in my life. Thankfully, I later found a competent and compassionate attorney who handled my QDROs and restored my faith in the legal system. This is my personal experience, and I share it in hopes that others can make more informed decisions. Clients deserve honesty, diligence, and respect—none of which I received here.

I had one of the most amazing experiences at a lawyers. When to do a will and estate planning. Something I know nothing about.Mrs. Kincaid was very thorough. She made things easy to understand. She said no question is a dumb question. She made us feel at ease. Knowing everything is taken care of and everything we wanted was included, nothing was forgotten. I highly recommend them to anyone!

DISHONEST AND UNTRUSTWORTHY! Balk told me he would seek legal fees from the other party in my case which is typical for my situation. Then he advised me to accept a settlement without informing me my legal fees would not be included as part of the settlement. So he charged me $1000 to seek $800 in damages. I got better results from representing myself for free in subsequent filings.

My grandfather has used used this attorney for years. He really likes them. My experience with them was the exact opposite. He wanted to make a few changes to his will, which they had already drafted for him years ago. My grandfather fell ill and we weren't sure he had much time. We called and had a meeting over the phone and explained the situation to the attorney. He asked for a week. After a week and my grandfathers condition declining, we called and asked for an update...it took another 3 weeks and one of us calling daily. Thank God my grandfather pulled through, or he would have been unable to make the changes he needed. Once in the office, they were pleasant to work with, but communication and timeliness are extremely important when dealing with legal matters. You can tell by their generic response to all the negative comments that they don't genuinely care about their customers. My advice, find a different attorney, one that values their clients' time and needs and not just their money.

I really tried to give this law firm the benefit of the doubt for the year we worked with them. However, one lawyer in particular has little communication, lack of knowledge, and is stretched way too thin. I tried to get in touch with our attorney for 7+ days on an extremely time sensitive matter and did not hear anything back on the situation. I ended up filing the motion myself at our local County Clerk’s office.

Absolutely worthless! I made the unfortunate mistake of coming back to this office after a less than fantastic experience the first time. I gave the benefit of the doubt but that was my poor judgment. The communication in this office is abhorrent! I left 17 messages over the course of a month as a returning client and got no calls back. I wasn't told about court dates, had consultations scheduled for dates after the court hearings they were meant to address, and literally no response to emails or phone messages. They were prompt with billing though. Imagine that. While I understand that there are nuances to legal dealings that I may not be privy to no attempt was made to explain why things were being handled as they were. I had several goals that I wanted accomplished and I was told we should take it one goal at a time. That approach lead to me being the victim of a crime for which I now have to pay more money to get justice. They make sure to take their sweet time billing $300 for 10 minutes of work. But no real progress to show for it. I placed an offer on a house a month ago and have heard nothing more since then. They're definitely the epitome of slimeball attorneys who milk every cent they think they can instead of actually helping.

Went in twice about an issue neither time was the lawyer was interested in helping us. They put me with a lawyer that had no clue. Kept shrugging his shoulders I don’t know. Definitely not willing to go over and beyond to help us. Finally said he could try but wanted a retainer, he said this would not be covered by John Deere’s legal plan. According to metlife it is. Very disappointed
