My Son is in the Cell with a 61 Year Old Man doing life my Son is doing Only 3 Years is this legal? he keeps telling my Son he wants to be alone what is my Son supposed to do I ask myself would anyone know who is willing to Help with my Son Situation?
PLS is generally useless for improving the conditions in Mass prisons especially medical. Conditions get worse moat every year and they barely do anything. Need another organization to advocate for Mass prisoners
I was assaulted in the jail by guards. I am 67 years old. I was kicked and thrown across my cage because I fainted from lack of food which was not edible. They said they would investigate this I have not been informed of this horrific episode I will take this to court I have not problem with that
i would give more stars but i havent been able to reach anyone..iveleft messages and still nothing..they say i have to call between 1pm and idk what time and ive been doing that plus leaving messages for an intake and nothing. I really need repesentation for my husband. My husband took a bad beating in prison and now faces charges.

I have been dealing with them for over 4 years trying to retrieve money they were in control of and all i keep getting is the run around. No one returns my calls either.
Hi Mr. Ribeiro, Just to be clear, the funds that you are referring to are damages from a lawsuit that PLS was successful in in 2011. We have never had control of that money because it is the Commonwealth that owes you that money since the Bristol County Sheriff lost the case. The Commonwealth claims it mailed you the check, but unfortunately, you do not have it. We tried to help you track the money down by writing to and calling the Comptroller's office and through other means. We are more than happy to make additional efforts to help you track down the damages check from the Commonwealth. You could also contact the Comptroller's office directly. Thank you.
Phones were busy every time I called. Couldn't even leave a message and as a parent of an incarcerated person it was very frustrating.

a few years back my son took a vicious beating from guards at a ma.correction prison that I will not mention.prisoners legal services could not do anything because the tape was lost!(really)As far as I can see they do not help prisoners as they claim!
We are very sorry that your son was unable to find representation. Unfortunately, we are a very small staff and receive at least 200 requests per year to investigate and represent individuals in guard assault cases. We are currently litigating two such cases as well as 16 other cases. We do try to refer cases to private pro bono attorneys whenever possible, but there simply aren't enough people out there who are able and willing to take these cases. We are working with the private bar to try to build more capacity to take these cases on. We also assist incarcerated people who file their own cases by providing sample court materials and other assistance. We hope to have more resources to take these cases on in the future. They are such a lifeline to prisoners. Simply amazing group of people.
