Public Defenders Office

I alled to speak about my Diverson program and to confirm I qualified. I got a really snotty lady who wouldn't let me finish my sentence before cutting me off. Teach your employees manners. Once I got my entire question out her response "oh that's easy." Yeah it would have been even easier if I could have said it the first time without 10992727264 interruptions.

We are all called on by God to do different things. I give the glory to God for the public defender and her team that defended me. They treated me as human being and listen to my side. With truth and integrity they defended me. Thank you for all that you have done

I definitely rate a 5 star because never once was I treated like a criminal.. I was given respect and my Public Defender Matthew Merridith represented me to the fullest. I give him 5 stars as well .. he kept me informed on how my case was going.. I am more the well pleased with the final outcome.. So 5 stars for the public defenders office and 5 stars for Matt.. The supervisor hung up on me! But get this, she answered the phone 'what is your question?' but the way she treated me was just unethical. I was issued a warrant for a ticket I did time on and paid! And all of a sudden it just appears out of nowhere and she's like too bad. You have to to the time and the fine. This is misdemeanor from 2019!!!!! This whole system is corrupt and a disgrace to Bay county! They issued a fine and a warrant and a $7 fee for missing a hearig I never had. This place and system needs Jesus!!!

No correspondence from the attorney I was reaching out to. Was treated as if I were bother when I called up there,..

They give as little as they get and think because they are lawyers ..we ( mot the clients but the parents )are beneath them...they treat the clients even worse..lots of lil small man mentality..big head big student loan for law ...small man..lil di... definitely applies

I'm guessing they have more than one person that answers the phone but anyway the lady that answers most of the time is rude ,talks so fast I feel rushed to spit out whatever it is I'm trying to say.. having to call this place is nerve wrecking in its self by the time I do get my PD on the phone I go blank because whoever answered the phone has done made me feel a burden for calling in the first place. I understand that I'll m not gonna be treated like I just paid my attorney thousands of dollars.. regardless your job is to defend me as if I were innocent until evidence can prove otherwise, it sucks to feel like the person that is suppose to do that is treating you like your guilty and not even trying to hear what I have to say .. It would be nice to know how to ask for a different attorney when you don't feel like the one appointed to you is even trying to fight for you

Never can get through. And they don't call back

My son has been in jail since Dec 12, 2021. Today is now Jan 24th. He has YET to speak to a public defender. His court date is for today Jan. 24th and still has no idea about what is going on. I have called several times and either I can’t get someone or I’m told he was representing himself which I know is Totally Not True or that he filled out paperwork wrong which is not true because it’s on the computer and it’s just a signature. Then they said they had to mail him the paperwork which he returned immediately. And still NOTHING! He has not had his discovery or anything!!!

Overworked & understaffed, a commonality that plagues our justice system nationwide. In short , your best defense is arming yourself w/ the most knowledge of the law(s) & facts pertaining to your case Be PROACTIVE, NOT PASSIVE!
