I reached out to Rella and Associates in mid-July 2024, after being removed from payroll in October 2023 and left without pay for over eight months. I was assigned legal aid, David Schmidt. After three months of back-and-forth emails, he finally gained access to my New York State Workers’ Comp files. Schmidt reviewed one of my files and quickly noted the judge had “got it wrong” and that my case needed correction. Fast forward to October 3, 2024, when Michael Catallo, a senior associate, got access to all my files, and by October 4, Rella and Associates were officially retained. Here’s where things got interesting. I discovered documents from Genero Baittiloro’s office, sent during this transition, attempting to close a case Schmidt was currently accessing—one involving $15,000 taken from my Workers’ Comp settlement. I requested that Catallo review the case, check the discrepancies, and investigate missing funds. His response, in a Brooklyn accent, was basically, “I’m not checking another lawyer’s work,” effectively denying me access to much-needed income. About a month later, I followed up with Catallo about my next hearing. His response, paraphrased: “It’s a process; I’ll let you know.” Given that I had already been without pay for nearly a year, this casual approach wasn’t exactly reassuring. His efforts lacked urgency, so I ended the client relationship. Overall, my experience with Rella and Associates was marked by delays, minimal progress, and what felt like a lack of commitment.

Overall a good ecperience. My questions and concerns were addressed quickly and everyone was helpful and pleasant.
