In December of 2023, I retained the services of this law firm for a discrimination and retaliation case against my former employer, paying a $7,000 retainer with the expectation that the firm would pursue private mediation on my behalf. However, throughout the one-year period that followed, I experienced a significant lack of communication and minimal effort in advancing my case. After my initial consultation with Mr. Wherry, the majority of my case was passed to another attorney at the firm, Ellen, whose engagement with the case felt cursory at best. I repeatedly had to correct her on key facts, suggesting that she was not fully familiar with the details of my situation. Despite raising concerns about the handling of my case, I saw no improvements. Mr. Wherry, after promising more involvement, disappeared once again after a brief meeting. During mediation, it became evident that Ellen had not conducted the necessary due diligence to fully understand my employer's position. She was visibly surprised to learn that my former employer had an arbitration agreement—a crucial detail that should have been uncovered much earlier in the process. Ultimately, the firm failed to provide the level of service expected for the retainer fee I paid. Not only were essential facts missed, but the overall handling of my case demonstrated a lack of professionalism and commitment to my best interests. After a year of inaction and inadequate representation.

This firm will try to charge you a $250 intake fee (non-negotiable according to the intake specialist). Clara, the intake specialist, is less than professional, on the brink of down right rude.

I spent years fighting a retaliation case with Rob Wiley, P.C., and I walked away deeply disappointed, not only with the settlement itself, but with how little protection I received in the end. I felt pressured into accepting a settlement far below what I was fighting for. After that, 40% went straight to attorney fees, and then over 30% was taken in taxes because of how the settlement was categorized. What I was left with didn’t come close to reflecting the time, energy, and stress I invested over several years. The worst part? My former employer never filed my W-2 with the IRS/SSA, a clear act of retaliation that has frozen my tax refund for months. When I went back to Rob Wiley, P.C. for help, their response was dismissive, essentially saying “not our problem.” No guidance, no support, just silence while I continue dealing with the fallout. This shows a serious lack of foresight. A strong employment law firm should know retaliation doesn’t stop just because you sign a settlement, and they should build protections into the agreement to guard against exactly this kind of tactic. Rob Wiley, P.C. didn’t. If you are considering them, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
