I handled a case recently in which two sober house residents at a sober house in Portland, high on drugs, robbed the Cumberland Farms on Pine Street with guns. They committed the robbery and went back to the sober house after they were done. It goes without saying that for the Town to allow this to continue is inappropriate and wrong, and is in complete disregard of the rights of the property owners in that area to enjoy our property. I really hope that rights of the property owners don’t wind up taking a back-seat to the perceived housing rights, or claimed disability rights, of the ex-convicts.”
