Unprofessional and uninformed attorneys. Be careful who you partner with.

My experience with attorney Michael Zettlemoyer was one of the most discouraging and unprofessional encounters I’ve ever had. After Elizabeth Bailey left the firm, I was assigned this attorney and immediately felt the shift in the level of advocacy. When Mr. Zettlemoyer stepped in, I felt unsupported, uninformed, and ultimately misled. Everything involving my case was seemingly an annoyance for him. As a client, you simply hope your attorney battles with the same intensity as the opposing counsel. That clearly was not the case here. What I witnessed felt like a complete lack of courage. In their depositions, the defendants were asked the softest, most surface-level questions imaginable—nothing that held them accountable or pushed them in any meaningful way. Meanwhile, I was forced to answer aggressive, invasive, and irrelevant personal questions. That same feeble dynamic continued into trial. From where I sat, the defense was never challenged aggressively, and my side never received the assertive representation it deserved. I kept hoping for even a single moment of bold advocacy, but it never happened. To make matters infinitely worse, after the trial was over, I was given the wrong appellate deadline, which caused me to lose my appellate rights. Because of this misinformation, I ended up spending money on an appellate lawyer that ultimately went to waste. To this day, I feel that this mistake cost me both time and money that I can’t get back. Overall, I walked away feeling misled and that my case had been sabotaged and effectively taken from me. From my perspective, the lack of courage, communication, and competency was undeniable. Depression is like a relentless storm that rewires your brain, dimming motivation, blurring your former self, and tightening the grip of negative thoughts. None of that resonates with Michael Zettlemoyer. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.
