I was recommended to this firm for a routine matter that required a lawyer with expertise in corporate and employment law. It was a very simple consultation that would have been $1,000 and required just a few hours at most. While on the phone, once they realize that this was not some big case, the demeanor of the person I was speaking with instantly soured. Well, I’m sorry that not everything is a big case. Sometimes, we just need a lawyer to review paperwork. I told them the deadline requirement for me to sign the paperwork and I was told that someone would be getting back to me. They never did. And calls to the office were not returned. That’s okay, another firm was happy to take up the matter, and I was able better understand and respond before the deadline expires, no thanks to Silver and Silver. I am now building a new company, which is a subsidiary of an existing corporation of mine. Three guesses who didn’t get the six-figure retainer to help us through that process? Maybe next time, treat potential clients with a bit more respect. Because this one cost you a few bucks (and I’m happy to let you know that it did).
