Navigating a divorce is never easy, but working with Stephanie Mack made an incredibly tough process more manageable. Before hiring any divorce attorney, it’s important to go in with reasonable expectations, which is something I learned along the way. One key takeaway: trust your attorney. Don’t overcommunicate. Your attorney has other clients, and what feels like a crisis (a level 8 or 9 to you) might be more like a 4 from their legal perspective. That’s not a bad thing-it means they know how to keep things in perspective. Being organized and clear with your communication helps everything go more smoothly and keeps your bill from ballooning unnecessarily. Stephanie and her team at Silverman and Mack are genuinely good people. I’m grateful for their guidance and steady support through a difficult divorce. I hired Joshua Silverman for my divorce case last April and paid around $6,500 upfront, expecting competent legal representation. Instead, I received absolutely nothing in return. I am a single mom on a teacher’s salary, and this was a huge financial sacrifice for me. I felt I had everything on my end (financials, parenting course, papers signed) done within two weeks of hiring him, yet he never even got the papers served to the defendant. He ignored my calls and emails, rarely provided updates, and did nothing to move my case forward. Eventually, the court filed a motion to drop the case I believe due to his inaction. After months of being ignored and left in limbo, I had no choice but to file a complaint with the state bar. No client should ever have to go through this level of negligence and dishonesty. If you’re looking for a lawyer who will actually work on your case and respect your time and money, look elsewhere. This experience has been a complete nightmare, and I wouldn’t wish this level of stress on anyone. As of yesterday, I was refunded the unused portion of my money after calling almost daily for 2 months. Still not divorced. Save yourself the frustration.

Hire Joshua Silverman. YOU WILL NOT BE OUTLAWYERED. He represented me in a high-conflict custody battle that began in 2018- 2 cases (same child), multiple judges, thousands of dollars, and 2 attorneys later- I hired Joshua Silverman and in Oct of 2024, I walked out of the courtroom with a smile on my face and 50/50 custody of my child. He is very assertive, which is what I love most about him and I felt safely represented sitting next to him in that courtroom (which was gonna be a witchtrial against me). He knows the Law. Better than most. We didnt even have the trial that day bc he outlawyered the other attorney before we even began. The hearing was scheduled for 9-5. And we were out by Noon. He exudes confidence, especially in the courtroom and you will not feel more comfortable or better represented by any other attorney. Hire Joshua Silverman. :)

Don’t hire Silverman. He came highly recommended. I paid a retainer last year for him to do a couple things for my case. He was supposed to 1. File a motion with request for rehearing and based on if the Judge said “no” the next step (based on a conversation with him at hiring phase 2. File an appeal. This began in March 2023. It is now March 2024, and I still have never received (multiple phone calls and emails were not returned) no status update on that motion being filed. I had to find out myself through the court that the Judge had not granted Silverman’s request. (Silverman still has not told me this update.) And now it is too late (1 year has passed) to file the appeal Silverman should have filed. By the way there’s over $1,000 of retainer left unused according to his office at the time of this review— so there’s no excuse for this kind of negligence. So if you still decide to hire him: 1. Get it in writing what he will do for your case 2. Get ready to make a part-time hobby out of hunting this guy down with phone calls, emails, etc. 3. Get in writing that he will give you status updates on your case- within 7 days of a court filing- specifically court decisions- and 4. Get in writing that he will take prompt action meeting court deadlines for filings. I now am filing a complaint with The FL Bar. What happened in my case can now no longer be undone because he chose not to give me an update, and more importantly, he failed to follow through on what I hied him to do. But by the way- the office can’t find any contract in my file stating what I hired him to do. So get it in writing. One more thing: the motion he wrote was sent to me as a draft last year and seemed to have errors (mentioning the petitioner (me) not showing up for court) - this was never true. I asked him about this confusing statement in the motion since I always showed up for court- and guess what? No response to that email. Major red flags.

Josh Silverman, and Brent were outstanding throughout my arduous divorce process. Prior to hiring Silverman and Mack, I was being charged with outlandish fees from another firm. Silverman and Mack not only provided more than fair billing practices, but substantially better representation. Silverman and Mack will always be my first choice for any future needs in regard to legal representation.
