I recently had SJOC Law represent me in a family law matter. I must say that I am very impressed with the communication with the attorney as well as the entire team. We were not able to achieve everything that I was hoping for, but I have gone from no visitation to being allowed every other weekend. Thank you for all your help.

Terrible attorney to do business with. Especially something as important as family law. The initial person I spoke to was great. She was prompt to respond, and she even went back to the office after hours to get me at up right away. Later I was contacted by the person in charge of my case. She promptly scheduled me for the initial consultation. The day of the consultation she was late. She didn't reach out prior to inform me that she was going to be delayed. She didn't apologize for being late. Since I didn't hear from her at the scheduled time, I continued my day. When she finally reached out I was busy. She then asked what time would work best for me on the following day. I let her know. I didn't hear back from her until 2 days later. Instead of trying to take care of my case that same day.She wanted to push back the consultation until the following week. I told her no thanks.I just wanted to cancel. Then she said she had a slot open that same day at one pm. I thanked her again.Got reiterated that I just wanted to cancel. I submitted the cancellation via email per her instructions. The following day I received an email from the attorney indicating I would get a refund within 7 to 10 business days. I had already made the first payment. Ten days later, I still had not received a refund. Sent another email, letting him know that I had not received a refund. I have not received a response from either her or the attorney. It's amazing how ridiculously expensive attorneys are. Yet the services they provide are terrible. Every single attorney I contacted has the same terrible service with no guarantee that paying them all that money is going to amount to anything I'd stay away from this firm. If this is how they handle the initial consultation, you can imagine how they would handle your whole case. Update; I received the following email on 5/8/25. "Mr. Frias, Services were rendered pursuant to the agreement. You will receive the invoice by mail and any remaining amounts will be sent via check to your address on file." Previously he stated this on 3/18/25: "Mr. Frias, This will confirm cancellation of the Limited Scope Retainer Agreement. Any amounts not spent on fees from your deposit will be returned to you in the next 5-10 business days." Till present day, I've neither received a refund or an invoice. Absolutely astounding how this man can be licensed to practice law. Stay away from this law firm. Not only are they incompetent, they are thieves.
