A waste of energy and effort to call this organization. They only take BIG cases. I was told I had a case but it wasn’t worth it to the attorney. He was very pushy for his $50. The call didn’t last 4 minutes. They shouldn’t charge if they don’t take the case. Why even call if you aren’t paralyzed for help!?

I was referred to the South Carolina Lawyer Referral Service for a FDCPA/FCRA billing matter that had already been reviewed by another attorney outside of the state, who saw merit in the case but was not licensed here. When I called the referral line, I was connected with an attorney who made it clear he only takes on what he called “BIG” cases. Because my case wasn’t valued at $100,000 or more, he said it wasn’t worth his time. At $500 an hour, he was “too good” to touch it. Why is it so difficult for an ordinary person to find a lawyer willing to listen and represent them, regardless of whether the issue is worth $20,000 or $100,000? Is it LESS illegal if the harm was only $10k? The system feels stacked against those without wealth or connections. People with money and influence don’t need to call this line in the first place. For the ones who do, the reality is often the same: Your case is not big enough, and you won’t find representation. What is promoted as a referral service ends up feeling more like a $50 fishing expedition for attorneys hoping to land the big cases. For everyone else, it’s a dead end.

Recommended a lawyer that not only took a week to even make a phone call, then had the audacity to tell me there was no case.

I needed a local attorney to address a contractor fraud issue. This service provided me with 3 attorneys to contact. Two of the three responded to my message. I hired one of them. I highly recommend this organization for anyone needing legal representation.

I needed a lawyer, SC Lawyer Referral referred me to a lawyer in Florida and a second lawyer that was a few hours away from me. If they tried they couldn't have come up with worse referrals. I do not recommend SC Lawyer Referral, they have earned the 3.8 Google Review Stars.

They refused talking to you, continued avoiding you and refused discussing with you on any matter and any case. They have no interest. They are wasting our time. They don’t make any efforts at all. I think they are looking for an easiest case and an easiest job. They are lazy. I’m not sure how they run the business like this, how they make money. I don’t even understand why they bother becoming a lawyer in the first place and continue wasting time and avoiding. Many of us like us clients, were trying to get help via lawyers like them for years yet they, lawyers, continued declining clients like us and other people. They are taking the advantage of our personal information via the phone, the text, the email. It’s not right. Clients, I’m sorry to tell you. You better go off without this lawyers. Find other lawyers somewhere. Not this company. I think some reviews may be false.

I thank them so much! They will help you find a lawyer, but the lawyers may not EVER take your case

The first time I attempted to call, I was on hold for 22 minutes and hung up. I tried again for a second time, and held for 12 minutes and hung up. I tried a third time, and held for 15 minutes and eventually hung up. I was put on hold for all three times. I then did the internet email site and received an instant reply to one attorney in Charleston. I did make contact with that attorney. Although, I did find out that you can only make one request per day by the internet/email request. I spent more time on hold, where I could have done my own search. Probably better to just Google to find an attorney verses using the the SC Bar Lawyer Referral service. That’s my opinion or maybe they still have the yellow pages out there.

Their attorneys have a very limited scope of help that they can give. So finding an attorney in South Carolina is almost non-existent unless you had a car accident. I'm leaving South Carolina soon.

Had to use this service 4 times to finally get an attorney who could help with my issue. Be short and describe your problem in terms of what you need. I kept getting referred to probate attorneys because, even though I needed a contract attorney, I mentioned the death of my father and that my mom needed help with a contract he had signed. The algorithm detected "death" and "help for spouse" so it sent me to probate attorneys. When I reworded it saying I need help with a contract, it finally sent me to a contract attorney.
