I had a malpractice case back in 2001 handled by Eugene Spada. I was 10 years old at the time. I remember sitting in the courtroom for weeks, while still suffering from horrible pain due to my Crohn's disease. He had brought a case upon doctors from the former hospital St. Claire's, who had admitted and treated me for 28 days in 1998 and had performed multiple unnecessary surgeries on what they thought was a condition I did not have. Mr. Spada had included many providers of care from that period in my life. One specifically who had absolutely nothing to do with the pain and suffering I had endured. I had to testify myself on the stand at that young age. The jury was in awe of the neglect on the part of the doctors and surgeons from the hospital as well as my primary care doctor at that time. Needless to say, we all thought I would succeed in winning this case. I remember something specific Mr. Spada told me personally in the elevator on the way up to hear the deliberation. "You will never have to worry about another thing in your life". The verdict was not guilty. We lost. Because the doctors and practices were tried as a whole, the jury could not convict the provider who did not have a hand in my mistreatment. A juror told my mother, "we wanted to find in your favor, so badly, we couldn't in good conscience find that specific provider caused neglect". Mr. Spada got greedy, and as a result, I did not get the justice I deserved from this incident. I WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE TO HIM AS A LAWYER. He cares more about what the outcome could provide him, than what the client deserved in terms of justice, not even monetarily. It was a traumatizing experience I will never forget. I'm surprised to see he is even still practicing. Please, think carefully before asking him to take your case.
