I highly discourage anyone from using this firm. Before I hired them, they made me like they would work hard for my interests. Immediately after I payed my retainer of $2500 Adrian Middleton, stopped taking my calls and didnt file any paper work. I tried to get a refund from my credit card company but he DID fight to get that money back. Then he went silent again. It was over a year and I'm out of money and he gets away with this type of treatment. Do NOT HIRE ADRIAN MIDDLETON or this firm. Thats my advice. He did this to me, im sure they ignored others as well.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Adrian was an absolute nightmare. Filed a complaint with the Florida bar. Stay away from him and this firm. Dropped the case 2 times in 4 years. After complaint was filed haven’t heard from him in 5 months. Case never settled. Anyone else having an issue should file a complaint with the Florida bar to prevent this firm from continuing to practice law and ruining peoples lives. Last I’ve heard from he is he told me if I filed a complaint we would lose out on the guaranteed money back in December of 2025

Sabrina contacted me offering her services to help with my application with DPBR in November, after they collecting the payment they take 3 days to answer e-mails and to talk by phone is impossible. Since then, never spoke with Sabrina anymore and her assistant basically is excusing that Sabrina is in court and She doesn't know how to help. I'm looking for another company to help me and I basically lost 1k dollars Company with a horrible customer service, I don't suggest this company to help you with your issues

Sword and Shield Attorney Reviews 2026 - Attorney Adrian Middleton Reviews 2026 Multiple Bad Reviews don't lie: I had to fire Adrian Middleton and ask for my money back (based on what's applicable) because I hired him to file my documents and pay my fees that I have to now pay someone else because his lack of communication and keeping promises are crap. After I paid him and promises broken he refrains from written commitments via email or text except when issues come up. He want's phone calls and then tells you he'll call back and ghost. I drove over 4.5 hours to Tallahassee from Melbourne, FL to ask him in person to once again to please file my paperwork because I a suffering a hardship waiting for his office to do the job I hired them for. His paralegals know what I'm saying but they are not the attorney as their hand are tied. He has cost me thousands of dollars of potential Revenue and I have gone through thousands of dollars in saving waiting on broken promises. I want the filing fees back from him that he never used. He sent what was to be a complete file that he was sending to the DBPR and the file had erros after hiring someone else to complete the task. I want applicable funds returned to me. I had to terminate/fire Adrian Middleton! Who wants to fire an attorney? That says it all! FYI, we asked for a full copy of the docs that were to be submitted that he said was in order, but didn't file. Come to find-out that some signatures were missing from the "full copy" that were necessary. Again, in the dark during the process with Sword and Shield. I want my filing fees back because he never filed the "already completed forms" to the DBPR. He may be a good criminal lawyer but he didn't help me when it came to filing paperwork with the DBPR, he was a hot mess!

I am writing to formally request an immediate response regarding the legal services I retained your firm to perform. I paid your firm more than $350 in full for the transfer of a professional license from one of my companies to another. Since payment was made, I have made numerous attempts to contact your office by email and phone over a period of nearly three months. Despite these repeated efforts, I have received no response and no update on the status of my matter. At this point, the lack of communication is unacceptable. I am requesting one of the following within 10 business days of this email: - A written status update clearly explaining the current status of my license transfer and the remaining steps to completion; or - A full refund of the fees paid due to the failure to provide communication and services as agreed. If I do not receive a response within this timeframe, I will consider pursuing further action, including filing complaints with the appropriate regulatory and consumer protection agencies. I hope to resolve this matter promptly and professionally.

I hired Adrian and he's great on the phone but has not returned calls and when he does it's to prolong his cat and mouse game. Often saying I'll call you back and not a word, terrible communication and reliability. I have been registered with the Florida Bar in the past and worked with many attorneys. In my personal opinion you want someone who will keep his or her promises about things they can control. Things happen but, in my case, not filing simple documents time and time again with disrespectful knowledge to a client is condescending. If you want disrespect from your attorney and very limited if any callbacks, roll the dice and call Adrian Middleton. In my case, I supplied documents and paid my invoices. I was even told my documents were in order, yet they haven't been filed with the DBPR, to date. It's my family's livelihood, not his! If you don't have the time or others are more important, don't take more cases than you can handle. I only hope my documents are handle delivered to the DBPR as promised for almost 2 weeks. Oh, yes part of his pitch is that he is close to the DBPR and that's one of the things that helps his clients. They can hand deliver the docs and save people from snail mail, get a verification receipt, and make sure the government employees can't say they lost your documents. Adrian's office is so close and I'm so far-far away from my prepared documents being delivered by hand. 1 Star is a gift. I emailed him for a PDF copy of my retainer that was signed online using DocuSign, my bad. I can only wonder how long that's going to take, if ever. Time will tell.

I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment and frustration regarding the complete lack of communication and progress on my DBPR Electrical License application, for which I have fully paid your firm. My last contact with your office was in December. Since then, I have received no updates, no responses to my inquiries, and no indication that any meaningful action has been taken on my case. It has now been over six months without resolution or even basic communication. This is unacceptable for a professional legal service. I hired your firm in good faith, paid all required attorney and DBPR fees, and trusted that my application would be handled diligently and professionally. Instead, I have been left without answers, without updates, and without the level of service that was promised. This review serves as a formal notice: if I do not receive a clear written update on the status of my application and a concrete plan of action within the next seven (7) days, I will immediately retain another attorney to take over my case. Hello Adrian or Mariana or Sabrina or anyone who works at this firm and would be willing to get back to me. It’s been over a month and a half since I have been able to contact anyone at the firm and have just gotten off the phone with the DBPR and they claim not to have any record of a GC license application having been submitted for me however I have emails up until December 12th from Mariana when she then stopped answering my emails or calls saying that she had checked on the status of the application and that there we no deficiencies but that they had not yet reviewed it. I have called dozens of times over the past month and emailed every attorney I can find on your website and no one has answered even once since December 12th 2025. Would love to hear from you to curb my thoughts on that I was just scammed out of over $1000. Or would love to see a response to this review with any evidence that what I am saying isn’t 100% accurate.

I hired this firm to process my contractor application and they quickly collected their $750 promising to make everything quicker and easier than doing it myself. It's been over 6 months and I still don't have an answer and what's worse they won't answer the phone or emails, you always get a bot and can't talk to a live human. I believe it's a scam company and not professional at all. I would not recommend them at all.Save your money

Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. I hired Sword & Shield Attorneys to handle a few licensing matters to start up a new entity with the DBPR and paid promptly, expecting a basic level of communication and follow‑through. Instead, I was completely ghosted for nearly three months. Every time I reached out for an update, the staff in the office would redirect me to Adrian — the person supposedly “handling” my case — but he never once answered a phone call, text message, or email. Not a single response. What made this even worse is that the issue they claimed was “resolved” was not resolved at all. I eventually contacted the state agency myself, only to learn that the payment was never received (which they said it was) and the matter had been left incomplete so the application sat untouched for months. I had to personally fix the entire situation on my own because no one at Sword & Shield would take responsibility for their mistake or communicate. The lack of accountability, transparency, and basic professionalism was alarming. After this experience, I can confidently say this is not an attorney or law firm I would ever want representing me for anything. If Adrian sees this, I am asking that you please contact me directly to resolve this matter. At minimum, I expect an explanation for the lack of communication or a refund for the services I paid for but did not receive. Once this issue is properly addressed, I will gladly update or rescind this review to reflect the resolution.

Well Adrian took my case in 2020 and nothing's been done on my case he has refused to call me back I can't understand why an attorney would do a client like this? After reading all the reviews on here I cant understand where y'all get all these good reviews because I think what he has done to me is absolutely horrible!! I will be contacting the Florida bar!!!!

Update: (December 29, 2025) Shortly after my son’s release from jail in March, 2024, I was approached by Adrian Middleton with pressure to secure legal Guardian on behalf of my son. I was thankful for his counsel on the matter, agreed, and a contract was signed. It has now been 20 months since without any action taken. In that time my son has been approved for disability, with moneys sent to me as supervisor on his behalf. I’ve reached out to Mr Middleton and the Sword and Shield office in email, text, and phone calls several times to only be met with empty promises whenever there was successful connection made. More recently, since September, there has been no response at all from Mr. Middleton to any texts, emails, or phone calls. Considering this, I feel we would be best served by going elsewhere. However, Sword and Shield and Mr. Middleton, are already contracted and monies invested with them. Plus, my son’s probation is still active until March 2026 and a history of his case is known more fully by them. It’s a dilemma. My hope and trust in Mr. Middleton and the practice has definitely been deferred due to inaction on the Guardian case. I have lowered my review as a result. Original: (April 2024) When I first spoke to Adrian on the phone about my son’s case, I was taken with his incredibly personal and caring conversation. He had a plan right away. Although, we’re dealing with a very ancient and dominating, thriving on punishment and control, judicial system. The case involving my young 22 yr old son with felony assault charges resulting from a major mental breakdown due to misdiagnoses and medication mis-management by select mental health professionals, lasted beyond the limits of what is surely humane. Especially, being that my son was not allowed contact and held in solitary confinement on suicide precautions. It was a very difficult waiting time, as month after month went by while we waited on evaluations to be done and I witnessed my son physically deteriorate more and more each time he appeared in court. There were occasions where I became so frustrated with the delayed callbacks and updates. However, thankfully in the end and true to his intentions, Mr Middleton was able to triumphantly plead my son out; he was adjudicated of charges and given a period of probation. I’m most grateful. And now we are joining forces again, as I have retained Sword and Shield Attorneys with Adrian Middleton, Esq. to help me in filing successful Guardianship of my son. Let’s do it!

Adrian was my attorney and he did such an amazing job. Adrian from start to finish worked very hard on my case and overall I was very very pleased. I was on a time crunch to hire an attorney and as soon as we spoke he was available to meet the next day. But beyond returning my money, my overall experience with them was disappointing. Communication was inconsistent, professionalism was lacking, and the service did not live up to the promises made. In my opinion, these are not the people you want representing you in an important matter. I wouldn’t recommend them to friends, family, or anyone who values transparency, accountability, and follow-through. Consider this a cautionary note before you decide to work with this firm.

This is a good lawfirm. They will definitely fight for you. This group has excellent ethics and they take their work serious.They did a superb job in our case. I definitely recommend them. Attorney Adrian is a stand up guy.
