The worst, I am one second away from reporting then to the ethics committee She is totally unprofessional very unethical. She is my uncle’s attorney. I have been trying to contact this lady for a whole year. She was retained back in 2024 she was paid in full However, my uncle case is still open and no answer very unprofessional I would tell you to run run run run run run run run run run.

The attorney Jamila Canty provided minimal effort and failed to uphold basic professional responsibilities. She rarely visited my son while he was in custody, and phone calls or attempts at communication were routinely ignored. My son was never given a copy of the disposition or meaningful updates regarding his case. On the day of sentencing, she offered no substantive defense or advocacy. This level of representation reflects a lack of diligence, communication, and zealous advocacy, falling far below the standards expected of licensed attorneys. I do not recommend this practice to anyone.

On behalf of a relative who engaged this attorney (Jamila Z. Canty) with the expectation of receiving effective representation and guidance, I must express significant disappointment. After investing over $15,000 in legal fees, my loved one was sentenced to 10 years. Throughout the entire process, the attorney's engagement was minimal; there were infrequent visits, lack of responsiveness to calls, and no provision of case updates or a copy of the disposition. Communication was severely lacking. During the sentencing, the attorney did not present a robust defense or advocacy, instead advising the client to accept a 10-year sentence or risk facing life in prison. This level of effort, dedication, and professionalism is not what one should anticipate when hiring legal counsel, particularly at such a substantial cost. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this attorney to anyone in search of authentic representation or a committed advocate for their best interests.
