I have hired The Cooper Law Firm twice in the past. My first experience was in 1991after being retaliated against while working at the Dakota County Sheriff's Office. I had been to several law firms and was told, "You don't have a basis to file a lawsuit." I had given up until a colleague of Mr. Cooper's (Steve) told me Steve was one of the best trial lawyers in Minnesota and suggested I give him a call. And so I did. The very day of my appointment, Steve explained to me, this was a Whistler Blower' s situation and he agreed to represent me. I was terrified, to me it seemed like a David and Goliath situation. However, with Steve's knowledge of the law and confidence in the courtroom, he was able to lead me through the painful process as I told my truth, in a courtroom filled with people for a full week. This was the first time The Minnesota Clean In Door Act had been challenged. Although he won an substantial settlement for me, the greatest victory was being heard, a moral victory, and having an attorney who I could turn to for the absolute best guidance. Over the years I kept in contact with Steve and would call when I needed his insight, not just over employment issues, but also Family Law. My dad died in 2012, I was a trustee along with two others. We had the very unpopular task of dividing the estate per directions of our parents. In 2018 when the estate still was not settle, I again hired Steve. Within months, he identified real issues, and the estate was settled without the need to drag it through the costly and time consuming court system.
