They do not care.. I don’t believe this is even a real organization.. They just push you to another person or group . It’s a big circle of nothing.. There’s no one to report them to.. They allowed Special Needs boy who has nothing wrong with him to be institutionalized because they are afraid to do what’s right. Whole state of Virginia is backwards.

There are no legal services with this organization. They don't return calls or messages. Filling out their information form only gets you an email with information that does not pertain to your situation or questions. They do not have a staff persay they forward inquiries to attorneys or paralegals that apparently agree to answer questions by email when the get around to it and that take a month or more. If they respond at all. No one talks to you. Not sure if this organization if it can be called that receives state funding, but if they do it needs to be investigated. Don't waste your time as a caregiver or patient in need of legal help as they have none to offer.

I am writing to bring your attention to a critical matter to a long-term care recipient under Virginia's DD Waiver Consumer-Directed program under DMAS. She has intellectual disabilities and relies on the support of a dedicated team of caregivers, totaling 14 hours of assistance daily. However, the annual authorization for caregivers, which expired 4 MONTHS ago, remains expired. Given the permanent nature of the condition, the recurring bureaucratic process of reauthorization, poses an undue burden on both the caregivers and the care receivers. This delay in authorization has left the caregivers in a precarious situation, where they are forced to either quit to find a job that doesnt skip several paydays, or work without pay and face severe financial hardships, jeopardizing their ability to meet essential obligations such as utility bills and rent or mortgage payments. While caregivers can claim back pay once authorized, the extended period without compensation is creating an unsustainable situation. I urgently request your intervention to address this recurring lapse in the authorization process. The financial strain on caregivers not only affects their livelihoods but also compromises the health and safety of the care receiver by putting care at risk. I believe it is crucial to streamline the authorization procedure for cases like this, where there is a clear and permanent need for ongoing care. Your prompt attention to this matter is essential in ensuring the well-being of care receivers and their caregivers. I appreciate your dedication to advocating for individuals in long-term care. I trust that you will address this issue.

The compassion, legal knowledge and skills of my caseworker, Joliefawn Liddell, allowed my situation to turn around in ways I never could have accomplished myself. Despite my best efforts, my university leadership and I could not resolve an accommodation I needed, and without the disAbility Law Center of Virginia, it would not have worked out very well. So grateful for this organization.

They do not help patients who are being abused or neglected . Don’t file lawsuits and act as though there’s nothing they can do. I have no clue why they exist. It’s just for show.

Never answered and I am Disabled with an Eviction Notice with a Section 8 Voucher that covers my entire rent
