Incredibly impressed with the work that Scott, Nina, and Samantha did for me. They were thorough, organized, and attentive.
I am enormously grateful for the assistance TELG provided me during one of the most difficult and stressful periods of my professional life. They were prompt and available every step of the way and provided sound advice to me. A clear distinction I noticed between this firm and others I’ve worked with was their integrity around billing. Every interaction felt intentional and substantive, never drawn out simply to generate additional fees. I would highly recommend TELG for any employment related issues.
My experience with The Employment Law Group would not be complete without specifically mentioning Nina, Janel and Scott. Specifically, Nina and Janel we're thorough, well prepared and always kept me informed with regular status updates. They explained complex legal issues in a way I could understand and were appreciative of my contributions as our matter progressed. Scott was thoroughly engaged in managing multiple people and entities. TELG is not only a great team, but considered me as part of the team. I highly recommend you reach out to them for the best possible outcome.
Nicholas Woodfield stated at the Fee Dispute Hearing that TELG is the best law firm. I find that comment to be very interesting. Funny thing is, 18 people have liked my post, several people have reached out to me on YELP with the same problem and there are several comments about their billing practices. They may think they are good at their jobs but the fact that there are so many clients expressing the same problems, should tell you something. These people are arrogant. And if you’re black, stay away. These people are not for you. Just look at the picture of their principals. Anybody have an ounce of melanin? Nope. Oh and it’s ironic at the influx of 5 star reviews after several negative ones. That’s what we call damage control. I highly recommend Tully Rinckey. They have been great all around after my experience with this firm. They don’t charge you excessively and are very transparent in all regards. I retained The Employment Law Group (TELG) for my employment case, expecting a high level of professionalism and fairness. Instead, I found myself overwhelmed by a mounting and unexpected financial burden, driven by a lack of cost transparency and excessive charges—particularly for administrative tasks. During my initial consultation, I was told my case would cost $15,000. That figure gave me confidence to move forward. However, I ended up spending over $60,000—including the evaluation phase—before I even got meaningfully into federal litigation. When I realized I had exceeded the $15,000 estimate, I brought it to their attention and received no response. As my legal bills continued to escalate, I brought it to their attention again. This time I was gaslit to try to make it seem like I got the retainer of $15K mixed up with any estimate-insulting my intelligence. I know what I was told. And even after that, they never provided a cost estimate. They happily continued to bill me excessively. Billing Concerns: Excessive charges for law clerks performing basic administrative tasks (e.g., sending calendar invites, reading emails, updating files). Vague and duplicative entries for internal firm discussions that inflated my costs. No updated cost estimate was ever provided, even as invoices climbed far beyond what was originally discussed. No client should fall into massive debt without clear communication about the financial expectations. Other firms I’ve consulted charge far less and do not bill for routine administrative work like TELG did. Here, billing felt like the priority—not the client’s best interest. And here's the kicker: I'm not the first client to raise these concerns. Look at the other reviews. Multiple former clients have echoed the same issues—unrealistic estimates, excessive billing, and financial strain. Do you believe in coincidences? I don’t. If you’re considering this firm, be prepared to pay significantly more than expected. Demand everything in writing—especially cost estimates and billing practices—before you sign anything. A law firm that prioritizes payment over clients should not be in business.
I was very pleased with the work that **TELG** performed on my behalf. The firm stepped in to support my discrimination case against the Federal Government, and I was satisfied with the settlement that was achieved. Their expertise in litigation preparation was extremely thorough and played a significant role in reaching a favorable outcome. The staff at TELG are highly professional and, in my opinion, demonstrate exceptional integrity. Their network of support professionals was also invaluable in helping me prepare for depositions and strengthening my case. I highly recommend TELG to anyone seeking representation for labor relations or discrimination matters.
I am impressed with the kind of help ELG provided me during my hour of need and that too completely free. They have earned my business for life.
UPDATE (from October 2025): As a former public school employee, I retained TELG to represent me in a racial discrimination dispute with my former employer. My school district recruited me to serve in an acting leadership role for two years, then refused to allow me to apply to keep the job permanently -- which I challenged with EEOC. TELG repeatedly insisted that I resolve my dispute by adhering to my employer's requests to endure an additional year of "internship" experience in order to get licensed and avoid my retaliatory demotion and $25K reduction in salary. I requested multiple times over the course of our litigation agreement that TELG's suggestions carried an inaccurate understanding of state law regarding certification for educators. Instead, I requested that they engage my state's department of education for an appropriate resolution, yet TELG refused my requests. Following my independent advocacy, on Feb. 13, 2026, my state's superintendent of schools reviewed my situation and determined that consistent with COMAR 13A.12.01.07A, the superintendent can find that "... alternatively a formal evaluation demonstrating effective performance" for the time I've already served in my acting leadership role suffices for the purposes of licensure. If my former employer hadn't obstructed my ability to get licensed by refusing to provide me a formal evaluation for years of service I've already completed, they would have had no pretext to demote me and reduce my salary. My former employer has repeatedly refused to provide me a formal evaluation and TELG never sought to request one on my behalf. I've now successfully filed a 2nd lawsuit pro se based upon this newly revealed information. Not only did TELG refuse to honor my requests, but they failed to provide reasonable diligence in establishing the facts under the law relevant to my case. It's astonishing that I was able to more successfully advocate for myself than those with the supposed expertise. Predictably, no one from TELG has responded to my correspondence sharing these developments and requests for resolution due to their inadequate representation. Thankfully, there are avenues for laypeople to fight back against such misconduct from lawyers. I'm pursuing my grievance against TELG with the state's Bar (file no.: 2025-2059). Anyone considering this firm, I encourage you to save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
I've had two phone consultations with this group over the past six years and in each instance I found the attorneys to be forthright, insightful, and above all else helpful. There was no pressure to proceed with a paid relationship, no withholding of advice -- just good guidance and a clear look at my situation and the implications of the choices in front of me. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them again.
An outstanding firm representing employees caught in difficult situations by their company. The attorneys and staff helped guide me through to a good conclusion. The strategy they set and the knowledge that guided their decision making, added a layer of comfort during this difficult time. Highly recommend TELG for employees seeking excellent representation.
I highly recommend the Employment Law Group for their legal expertise. The quality and responsiveness of the firm's legal team exceeded my expectations. I appreciated their honest feedback on what is reasonable regarding my matter.
My experience with The Employment Law Group was excellent. The attorney provided very good technical assistance as I reviewed various issues. Moreover, he raised several strategic matters that I hadn't considered. I am a very enthusiastic endorser of the firm, both for its capabilities and for the high degree of value delivered at an important time.
I have used The Employment Law Group more than once and I have been extremely happy with the experiences. I work in tech sales and Scott Oswald has helped me to negotiate an excellent compensation package from my employer. He was extremely detail-oriented and professional during my consultation. It was immediately evident how experienced he was in this field. I would highly recommend them!
After sending more info they backed out without really saying much
All about money...the least they could do is tell you they are gonna charge you before they get some information from you and then act like you owe them...up front and honest from the start would be nice
I reached out to Nick Woodfield at The Employment Law Group about a complicated non-compete issue with my former employer. Nick took the time to listen carefully, review the documents, and explain the law clearly. He could have taken a retainer — and I offered — but instead he told me, “Honestly, I think you can do this yourself,” and gave me specific, step-by-step instructions on how to resolve it. Following his guidance, I was able to settle the issue on my own. At a time when other attorneys were dismissive, unhelpful, or immediately demanded large fees, Nick stood out for his integrity, kindness, and willingness to genuinely help someone in a difficult situation. His professionalism and honesty meant a great deal to me. I am truly grateful and highly recommend him.
Connecting originally felt like a dream until it felt like unethical “data harvesting”. Scott called me out of breathe and distracted. When it was my time to speak he would place me on mute and when I asked him to repeat what I said to make sure he heard me he said he could not. My assessment on my case was wildly inaccurate according to the information I provided in such a way it felt purposeful. Be careful with who you share your case with.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the work and support your legal firm has provided. Your legal counsel was balanced and focused, giving me the confidence to demand justice under the extreme situation I found myself in. As a cofounder of the NGO, it is always important that I should be able to keep the organization on track for our mission, adhering to the by laws and protecting my colleagues and employees from any unfair practices. Adam understood this and his guidance was on point without wasted hours. The outcome was as desired and I would highly recommend your firm to others caught in an unexpected legal tangle!
all AROUND THE BEST
This firm owes an apology to all their clients who they have taken advantage of.
I want to acknowledge The Employment Law Group (TELG) for its professionalism, teamwork, and follow-through — the firm fully met its commitment. TELG evaluated my complex case and on-time delivered a fair, independent assessment. The process was well-organized, responsive, and thorough, with several attorney clearly prepared and aligned with their area of expertise. From leadership — like Scott Oswald — to client-facing staff such as Lucy Dagnillo, the entire team demonstrated a strong culture of professionalism, patience, and client-centered service. Lucy, in particular, made every call feel personal and focused. Her thoughtfulness, precision, and unwavering follow-up made the experience far more navigable — I consistently felt supported. I truly appreciate the TELG team’s effort, structure, and integrity in how they managed a complex matter.
