I went through a referral program through my job. Apparently if it's free and you already let them know your short with your finances. They won't even talk to your or give any advice. I stated that I was in a hard position financially and they told me go somewhere else. It's really sad advice isn't even for free.

Wow - was referred to this attorney. First there was a scheduling issue where I received a call and set up an appt - but the appt was never recorded on the attorney's side. Then my inquiry was regarding completing a "quit dead" form and the retainer was $1035. For a form which has 5 blank spaces in it. I am shocked. I don't have a lot of interaction with law offices, but definitely feel $1000 for what wouldn't take more than a half hour is outrageous.
