If you are a federal employee but not on the GS pay scale, they will say that they are interested in taking your case, waste 2 weeks to “get back to you” and then only after following up will they say, “Oh sorry we only take cases with GS pay scale.” They knew that this was not a GS pay scale employer! CLOWNS!

An Extremely Disappointing Legal Experience — Over $15,000 Spent with No Results I retained this law firm with the expectation of receiving expert legal counsel, timely communication, and strategic support. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of those expectations. I encountered rushed work, inconsistent communication, and a troubling lack of accountability. On the night of a critical filing deadline, I received a draft from the supervising attorney, Rochelle Young, at 11:00 PM—just one hour before submission. This left no opportunity for thoughtful review or revision. Additionally, the lead attorney on my case, Chris Lopez, submitted filings that I had previously raised concerns about, citing weak arguments and inadequate evidentiary support. My input was largely dismissed. More concerning, the firm billed significantly beyond the original estimate—ultimately more than doubling the projected cost—without providing advance notice, justification, or an opportunity for me to reassess the engagement. At no point did the firm acknowledge any oversight or take responsibility for the breakdowns in service. Throughout this process, I did not feel treated as a valued client. The professionalism, integrity, and diligence I reasonably expected were consistently lacking. It is both disheartening and frustrating to invest over $15,000—along with significant emotional energy—only to walk away without any meaningful progress or resolution. Legal professionals must be held to high ethical and performance standards. Based on my experience, this firm failed to meet those standards in multiple critical areas This could have been an easy case to win, if the time and attention was put into it. PS- before the firm responds with all of their accolades, personal testimonials are also valid. I am sure this firm got where it is be doing great work, they just didn’t do great work for me. The firms awards yesterday (last year etc) holds little merit today for me as a client. Very disappointing!

$500 consultation fee for 15 mins on the phone with him. Told me general info on the disability retirement process that's available online, didn't even ask to look at my records. I could tell he was only interested in litigation and basically said I would be on my own during the application stage. I need someone to help me get the application approved, not interested in suing which can take years. Also could hear him doing work while he was talking to me which shows disinterest. Must be easy money to him.
This consult did not only take 15 minutes, and the work that this individual thought they heard me doing while they were speaking was taking notes on what they were telling me. I explained what he needed to do to qualify for his disability retirement, explained the process, and that people typically handle the application process with their doctors. They only hire attorneys should they need to request reconsideration on an initial decision from the OPM, denying their application, or to appeal a final negative OPM decision to MSPB. That way hopefully saves them the fees of having to hire an attorney unless it must go that route.
I spent $17-$20K and was told I need another $40K to go to trial. I didn't recover what I invested so I am worse off than when I started. I paid money to lose money.

John provided great guidance.
I'm a current client of Mahoney and I can say without doubt feel he has committed malpractice and frund in my case and I filed a complaint against him with the Florida Bar Association.
I am sorry, but not only are you not a current client of this law firm, you have never been either a client or a potential client of this Firm. Therefore, we can say without doubt that we have not committed malpractice or fraud in your case or in any of the other thousands of cases we have handled over the past 30 years. Consequently, you should rescind your false and defamatory review, else we may commence a lawsuit against you. Finally, we are not licensed to practice law in Florida, so the Florida Bar Association does not have jurisdiction over this law firm and will most assuredly dismiss any complaint by you as unsupportable.
I contacted this law group about an employment law issue and received a response saying they don't do workers comp. When I replied that this was an employment issue they just ignored me. They clearly don't understand issues in todays federal employment environment and if they are this non-responsive would not be effective counsel
We understand there may have been miscommunication regarding this issue and apologize for any confusion. To begin, we replied to you in a timely manner to all correspondences you sent us (including the day-of when you first reached out to us as we have written correspondence proving such), advising you of what Federal Employment cases we do, and do not handle. In this case, as we advised, we do not handle OWCP cases. However, we had stated that should you require a second claim for an EEO complaint, we will be able to represent you then. We encourage you to reach back out to us with any further questions.
Mr. Mahoney was recommended by one of his previous clients, who had a successful outcome. My initial consultation with him far exceeded my expectations. When you are experiencing distressful bureaucratic situations, it is difficult to think clearly and procedurally. Mr. Mahoney’s initial consultation (in non-legal jargon) offered an incredible opportunity to unpack and uncomplicate the legal process while exploring actionable options for further consideration.
I was quite surprised when my initial consultation was conducted by Mr. Mahoney himself rather than a supporting attorney at his firm. He is clearly exceptionally well versed in federal employment law and quickly understood the basic elements of my specific EEO case. He clearly articulated alternatives and possible outcomes and explained the process and associated fees for obtaining his firm as formal counsel to represent me. I did not take this as being focused on money, but rather a good consideration of transparency for clients. He was personable, patient and honest in addressing expectations. Although we are at the beginning of the process Mr. Mahoney gave me confidence that my interests will be well served by him and his proven staff.
During the initial consultation Mr Mahoney explained everything to me about things that could happen and what I should expect. He was very knowledgeable. I retained them to represent me. Praying for a good outcome.
After talking to the Attorney i was very satisfied and did hesitate to retain his services. Highly recommend.
shoud put on your website you charge $300 for a phone consualtatoin.
Conversation was immediately short, met with immense irritable mannerisms, and unprofessional. Arriving back from a VA appointment in which I responded with a call back within the given 15 minute window only to be met with the response; "no wonder your were terminated". I missed our initial consultation as my phone blocked the number and sent it to voicemail as I was expecting a return call from the number I called on the website; my bad; but I'm good. I'm sure the firm has served other clients in a better capacity in which I don't want to negate their efforts and accomplishments; as the only focal point of my conversation rotated around fees and "pounding sand" without a thorough consultation towards a resolution in regards to my circumstance; as if there was no winning strategy developed as the barrier was already put up from the second call back attempt. It just wasn't for me. No harsh feelings though, just my personal experience.
I am in Week 2 of working with Ms. Lolotai and Mr. Mahoney. So far the process has been a little overwhelming, but they are phenomenal with calming my nerves and anxiousness. I definitely made the right call when calling for their assistance! I will update with another review when my process is complete.
My experience with Letha Miller was outstanding. Not only did she understand the laws, she was able to explain them in a way I could understand. The biggest thing I would like to commend her on, was her genuine concern with my case on a professional and personal level with me as well as my husband. Should the need ever arise, I would not hesitate to have her represent me in the future.
Thank you for the kind words. We are happy to hear you are pleased with your experience as everyone at the firm works hard to provide exceptional service to our clients. We appreciate your feedback!
Excellent law firm! Pricey, but you get what you pay for. I was very impressed with Lynn Mahoney who was the attorney assigned to me. She was very professional, responsive, and a caring individual, which is what I needed going through hell with my employer.
John Mahoney was a bright light in the dark tunnel of seeking answers from a Federal government agency that was purposely deceptive. Prior to John's advice and investigation of the facts involved no other attorneys could comprehend or had knowledge of Federal Law to help me with the questions and issues in my case. As a Federal GS 12 my Due Process right was never allowed for access to me and John Mahoney found this fact and the path in the Federal government to address it immediately after taking my case and I have had victory with John's representation. John Mahoney and his Law firm I highly recommend to all who need help with the Federal government.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It is a true pleasure to represent you. We take pride in going to battle for our clients.
I am experiencing escalating discrimination at work, and it has been affecting my health and well being. Having never experienced anything like this before in my life, I had no idea how to handle it, and the feeling of going it alone was very daunting. I reached out to a number of law firms, and consulted with an attorney in a different firm who just said, "file an EEO complaint," and did not seem in the least bit interested in taking on my case. I then scheduled a consultation with John Mahoney, and he was very responsive. He listened carefully as I laid out my situation, provided me an intial assessment of my case, and reassured me that I have a lot of protections in place under Federal law and policy. He described the way ahead clearly. I cannot describe the feeling of relief I have knowing that I have experienced and knowledgeble counsel to help me navigate the process, that I have representation, and that I am no longer all alone in fighting an extremely stressful and emotionally draining situation. I want the discrimination to stop, and the situation to be resolved fairly and quickly, and John Mahoney gives me every confidence that outcome will occur.
Keeping this short, spent the money on a consultation that was supposed to be an hour. Wasted that money for 18 minutes of his time. Just kept telling me how much it was going to cost me versus talking about my case and a game plan. Felt like I was a bother to him and he couldn’t wait to get off the phone. Wish I would have listened to other reviews stating this same thing. It’s only money but $200 is still a lot for 18 minutes.
As a business, we strive to satisfy our clients' expectations and I’m sorry to hear that you feel you had a negative experience. While we do not agree with your review, it is not proper to comment publicly. We work hard for our clients and are proud of how most are very happy with our services and results. We wish you much happiness and success.
Mr. Mahoney is very knowledgeable regarding federal law. He is very precise and to the point. Time is money, and he definitely does not waste time.
