I can't speak highly enough about Peter Bunch. He is truly exceptional—brilliant, compassionate, and with an extraordinary ability to assess people and situations accurately. From our very first conversation, Peter took the time to truly listen, providing clear, realistic expectations about the potential outcomes of my case. My situation involved a complex combination of pregnancy, divorce, and navigating a very challenging co-parent while creating a parenting plan for our newborn. Throughout it all, one word best describes Peter’s role in my life: Protective. He has been unwavering in his commitment to protecting both me and my baby, never minimizing my experiences or concerns. Peter is not the kind of attorney who drags things out or runs up your bill—he’s strategic, efficient, and always several steps ahead. Whenever challenges arose, he knew exactly how to handle them and guided me through every decision with care and clarity. My divorce was a surprise. Knock on the door, papers served. I went to Peter's office and he sadly told me I could not return home because of a TRO (which was totally baseless, I had tried to take away my ex-wife's keys when she tried to leave drunk with the kids in the car. That was the grounds for the TRO). Peter gave me all the best advice which I followed and am happier as a result. He told me how the case was going to play out, and how best to handle it for long run success and in the best interests of the children. All his advice was spot-on accurate. He understands the "system" very well, and he understands the strategies of the opposing counsel of the big law firms in town. And he's just a super nice guy. It's been 22 years since my divorce and I still can't say enough about Peter. Every piece of advice he gave me worked out perfectly, and his predictions about my ex- and her ill-advised strategy all came true. Great representation, in every possible way.

Never called me back

I am glad that it took me a few months to write a review for Peter Bunch because as each day passes my gratitude for his service increases. It is easy to concur with the other positive reviews left by former clients, as I had a similar experience with Peter and Amanda. However, Peter represented my daughter as her child attorney and that is where his background and focus truly shine in our case. Peter's love and respect for children and decades of service as a child advocate have created a permanent shift in the family law system, where children often get viewed as commodities. I feel strongly that the custody and parenting plan Peter created are in my daughter's best interest. The path forward has been clear and greatly reduced conflict. Further, the comment made in another review where Peter gave a reminder about being like Mister Rogers, informs so much about his philosophy. Peter's ability to connect with my daughter, even over Zoom, was pure Mister Rogers magic. It was an incredibly challenging chapter with a lot of trauma, and I do not think we could have made it to to the other side without Peter's professionalism, experience and empathy. I desperately wanted to settle out of court to avoid any further trauma; Peter knew this, and he made it happen. He saw what my daughter needed and went above and beyond to ensure we could settle out of court. At times I felt that Peter was the only grownup in the room among the other lawyers, and the amount of respect Peter deservedly demands creates positive movement where there were historically impasses. Peter's experience and knowledge will save time and money, but also is key to deescalating and creating cooperation among all parties. He quickly highlights the issues to create a path forward that focuses on the best interest of children. I cannot recommend teaming with Peter enough to see you through to a brighter, healthier and happier chapter.

A lawyer you'd want during a pandemic 5.0 stars Posted by Mark August 10, 2021 Peter Bunch has represented me since Feb, 2020. Despite numerous hurdles and detours presented by my wife’s lawyer, which he successfully defended, Peter has maintained principled, yet vigorous representation in keeping with my wishes. We finally reached final judgment, despite a global pandemic, which presented its own novel issues. During the trial the judge acknowledged that Peter’s command of legal authority ("encyclopedic") to support my position was greater than the judge’s, despite over 25 years on the bench. While he has maintained a steady yet calculating demeanor, he regularly schooled the opposition, who literally acknowledged his superior command of the law. Peter has provided clear advice in presenting my case, carefully preparing me at every turn. He works solo, so, while he juggles clients’ needs, the work product is his responsibility alone, which he takes very seriously. I would recommend Peter without hesitation. I must add that Amanda Monaghan, Peter's assistant, provides superior support.

I will be eternally grateful for the efforts of Peter Bunch AND Amanda regarding my case. Peter is thorough and direct with clients and other professionals he works with. I have alot of respect for him and his abilities as well as observed respect from other professionals encountered in the legal arena. I was leaving a very toxic, and abusive relationship. He helped me navigate the process, did everything in his power to instill safeguards and always gave me sound advice (even if I didn't take it - which I always regretted). He show empathy when needed, and instructive counsel through YEARS (nearly 10) of court interchanges with my ex. His knowledge and experience with high conflict cases was evident in my cases. Peter is the best family lawyer in the Portland area. He was my lawyer for initial divorce proceedings and subsequent lawsuits from my ex over the past 5 years. He was always willing to find the best and most cost-effective resolution. Peter continues to be a leader in his field and continues be involved in National Family Law organizations.

I highly recommend Peter. He took the care to explain things to me thoroughly and ask if I have questions. He gave the attention and care I needed when I needed it and was also straight-forward. Peter really shines in the process of negotiation. He is quick to understand complicated situations and firm on your side when you need it. He attempts to keep your costs down, and will advise you how to do so. This is refreshing when in an emotionally draining process of divorce. If I have future needs I will definitely be returning to Peter.

I went to Peter because I really needed advice and a professional to simply manage the stresses of my divorce. I did a consultation with him and everything seemed in order. He seemed like a decent fellow that was knowledgeable and forthright. This image didn't last long... Being involved in a messy divorce full of high stress due to false allegations, Peter simply walked away at the VERY beginning because the heat got too hot for him. He now of course wants his money ($400) for the consultation even though he bailed on me which forced me to have to find another attorney and pay another consultation fee. Oh well, I chalked this up as a small cost in getting the right lawyer. He basically helped me determine that he wasn't who I needed... a proficient lawyer that can handle stresses of a divorce with ease. I ended up finding Shelly Perkins and she has turned my whole case around. She didn't even use the angles that Peter wanted to which would have easily cost me >10k more. Ironic right? I'm tired of thinking about this whole mess and glad it is behind me, but there you have it incase you are wondering if this guy can help you out.
