I am a Wisconsin attorney and needed local counsel to help me with a deposition in Delaware about a month ago. Right away James Tobia responded to me letting me know what he could do, sent me a primer on deposition law in Delaware, and was prepared at the time of the deposition. Turned me down without even asking about my case.

I am sorry you were dissatisfied. But as a matter of policy and best practices, I intentionally try to inform potential clients as soon as possible that I will not be able to represent them, if that is so. In some cases, that can be determined almost immediately, usually in instances where a potential client seeks representation with respect to a legal area which I do not practice, or in a geographic location I do not practice, or if I am unable to take on a new case at that time or within the requested time frame. I believe it is considerate to inform the potential client as soon as possible, so they can avoid needlessly reciting their story only to be told that I cannot help after going through that.
