My consultation with him was horrifying from the very moment he introduced himself. I had no idea where to start with explaining my divorce situation which he offered no help with. he immediately began tearing apart any aspect of anything I told him literally within minutes of entering his office which I had to force him to listen to to because he barely asked me any questions about my situation or my case. all he wanted to do was try to convince me that trying to fight for my share of our marital property was just a waist of his time and that i couldnt afford him then rudely declined to take my case hello by this point I had already decided that he wasn't even trying to help me but was instead actively trying to discourage me. He has been the most unprofessional and rude person that I have met yet during this divorce experience. *Update 2026. This lawyer pissed me off so much. I ended up teaching myself how to file my own divorce and received exactly what i asked for. The same thing I had asked this lawyer to help me get. And i didnt have to spend huge amounts of money letting lawyers drag everything out back and forth in court. I found a template online. I added my demands. Then submitted to my exs lawyer what I wanted and believed I had right too based off what the law actually said. And his lawyers didnt argue. Because they knew I could have legally gone after more. And if i had hired a lawyer I would have. I would have let a lawyer go after every dime i legally could. Just to pay that lawyer fee. But I didnt use a lawyer. And I didnt want it all. I wanted only what I believed I had right too. Even if the law said I technically had right to more. And I got it. No regrets. Other than marrying that man in the first place. He locked me out of our bank accounts after convincing me it was ok to quit my job and become a house wife.. Told me he wanted a divorce and was seeing his coworker. And he refused to file the divorce himself. But started physically abusing me to get out of his house. A house we'd lived in for 14 years. In hindsight. I realized i had been in an abusive marriage. Mental and financial abuse. But because nothing physical until the last weeks. I didnt recognize it as abuse. The way he tried to divorce me. Was his method of trying to break me. But i didnt break. Not until my daughter who he raised since she was 5. Took her own life at 23 yo. He raised her for 14 years. Then dropped her after the divorce finalized. The psychological damage that man did to us. And I didnt even recognize it as abuse at the time. The financial control was just one of many aspects i can see no. I hate myself for not seeing what was happening. But neither he nor this lawyer broke me. Realizing how much I failed my daughter. Did. Lesson I've learned dealing with lawyers is. Just like with a Dr. Be your own advocate. Research everything they tell you. Read the laws and information yourself as you go through the process. Document everything. And dont let them intimidate you. Cause they will try.

Mr. Goodwin was polite and kind took time to listen to my case but we did not choose him because the price was not in our budget. But you pay for what you get . Thank you for your time!!

I just called to get advice or consultation and this guys said don't take advice from court clerks and hung up. No information on how to handle the situation or how to find out what is going on. Terrible

Lawrence did an excellent job listening to what I needed and explaining what was realistic and what wasn’t throughout the entire process.
