I hired Roy J. Smith of The Smith Law Firm after he took over my case from a prior attorney. Unfortunately, he filed a Notice of Trial without being prepared to proceed. He did not adequately review the previous attorney's filings or work, nor did he clearly communicate what was needed from me to properly prepare for trial. Despite being paid, my case was not moved forward in a meaningful or timely manner. I later learned that concerns I had were similar to experiences I had already faced with my previous attorney, including a lack of aggressiveness and follow-through. When I raised concerns about the lack of performance and asked about motions he was hired and billed me to file, his response was unprofessional. After being called out for not fulfilling his responsibilities, those motions were never filed. Based on my experience, I would highly NOT recommend this attorney. I am out of thousands of dollars with still not trial date set; no required documents filed with the court and have to start all over again with another attorney. BE CAREFUL WHEN HIRING DIVORCE ATTORNEYS!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Terrible service. If I could give zero stars I would. Roy Smith is disrespectful. He needs to understand he’s a man and just because he’s a lawyer doesn’t mean he can talk to a grown woman like a child. He’s already been saying false things and poking to get a reaction out of people which isn’t okay! I would NOT recommend him as a family attorney. He’s just been making my situation much worse. I’m studying to be a lawyer and we’ve definitely been getting taught to NOT follow Mr. Smith’s actions while studying. Hopefully he can maybe retake a class or one of his coworkers can help him on customer service:)

Roy took on an extremely difficult case with more twists, turns, and bumps than a telenovela but always had answers for them all. I'm forever grateful for Roy and the service of his team. I worked with Roy for about 8 years on two major cases, both cases were of extreme circumstances that didn't look well for me and my family. Both times Roy provided results that exceeded anything I could imagine as a possibility. At all times, he kept the best interest of the children as the top priority. He used finesse when appropriate and was aggressive when appropriate. Roy was thorough, competent, timely, professional, and reliable at all times. There was never a point when I felt like I should have hired someone else or that the cost of service was not worth what I was receiving. I hired them to take care of my divorce. They would not let me come into their building because of Covid-19. Other professionals will as long as you where a mask. Roy would only talk to me through emails and phone. The phone did not work you could not have a conference call that you could hear, so phone calls were worthless even though you were being billed for each one at a high price. How could I get anything done? Roy seemed to be protecting himself in his emails. when I talked to him he did not explain the legal jargon, he seemed to talk around things taking care to cover himself in what he said. I would have to go to other friends who were in law and ask them what he was talking about. I asked him specifically "What should I ask for this in the divorce?" Still he would give me a general answer with not much to say. I Don't feel like I got any good counsel from him. He would talk over me and I would talk over him trying to make our point to each other which they where not that big of deal to begin with. When the retainer ran out he fired me as a client and I was very thankful that he did. The retainer mostly went to worthless emails and unclear phone calls. Very, very unprofessional. I wanted out anyway, I don't know if it was because I was a woman but I felt he would push me around. Maybe he does better with men, it was not a good experience.at any rate.

I tried scheduling a consultation with them, but I could not hear them very well and when I said I could barely hear them too well, the receptionist hung up on me rudely. I do not wish this service on anyone. Good luck on whoever calls them. Hopefully you look at this review and think twice before calling... because the receptionist really blew my mind with how low quality of a service he gave me.

Roy Smith IS AWESOME!! When I went in for my free consultation he listened to me explain my legal problem and then gave me "striaght-up" advice and it ended-up helping me as well as helping me save money and lengthy legal problems!! Also, if you have seen the Marvel movie "IronMan", this guy looks like the cool and shauve Tony Stark!! I highly recommend him!!
