Our experience with Theo Emison of Veen Firm Trial Law, was nothing short of outstanding. Theo handled our case with maximum professionalism, empathy and care. It was an emotionally exhausting case with too many complexities, but Theo’s grasp of detail, his strategic thinking and his ability to plan ahead helped us achieve a favorable outcome. Theo was very straight forward about the possible outcomes, took the time to explain all the documents and was very patient with our numerous questions. Above all the professional services, his ability to personally connect to each member of our family has been priceless. We are profoundly grateful for his services and highly recommend Theo for cases involving personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice.

Ok so I never really write reviews, and definitely not long ones, but I’ve told this story to like 20 people in real life so I might as well put it here. Couple years ago I got hurt on a construction job. I’m not going to put all the details here, but it was bad enough that I couldn’t work, couldn’t sleep right, and needed help to do stuff that used to be no big deal. You go from “I’m fine, I got it” to “how do I even get through the week.” I talked to a few lawyers before Veen. One told me basically, “This is going to be very hard, I don’t think it’s worth it.” Another just kind of shrugged and said the case was too complicated, lots of moving parts, blah blah. I walked out of those calls feeling like the accident was my fault for being inconvenient. Someone I know from the neighborhood said, “Call The Veen Firm, they do the tough ones,” so I did. First call was already different. They actually let me talk. I could tell they were taking notes, asking follow up questions, not just waiting for me to stop so they could give some generic answer. They asked how it changed my day, not just what the medical report said. Like, can you pick up groceries, can you climb stairs, can you focus, how is your family handling it. Stuff that felt very real. Once they took the case, they didn’t disappear. They explained what was going on in normal words, not legal textbook speak. When I got stressed and sent long emails with 10 questions in them, they actually answered them. Sometimes not in five minutes, but they answered. When the insurance company tried to float a low number, they told me straight up, “That is not good enough for what you went through,” and they pushed. I didn’t feel pressured to just settle and shut up. The case went on longer than I wanted, honestly. There were times I was tired of it and just wanted it over. But every time I started to wobble on that, they walked me through what was happening and why it mattered to keep going. In the end, the result was way better than what those first lawyers hinted I could ever get. My mom is obsessed with them now. She still asks, “Have you talked to your Veen people?” and tells everyone they “saved her baby,” which is pretty funny considering I’m not five. She actually told me to make sure I wrote a review, so Mom, if you ever see this, I did it. I’m not saying they can fix everything, because they can’t fix the fact that the accident happened. But they made it possible for me to actually put my life back together in a real way. If you got hurt and other lawyers are brushing you off or making you feel like your case is “too much work,” call The Veen Firm. They didn’t treat me like a problem to get rid of, they treated me like a person they were willing to fight for.....thank you!!!!

My daughter, niece, and I were victims and severely injured in a hit-and-run car crash coming home from the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert. We hired William Bandettini at The Veen Firm to help us navigate one of the scariest and complex times of our life. William was patient with our questions, and extremely knowledgeable regarding handling this type of insurance claim. William worked diligently and ensured we received the best possible outcome. It was not an easy task, as the person that hit us is at large with multiple felony charges, the owner of his vehicle had little to no insurance, and our medical bills were extensive. William was diligent and negotiated and secured an excellent outcome for all of us. We are eternally grateful for his dedication and hard work to settling our case. We would definitely hire him again.

After being turned away by more than ten other firms, we were incredibly fortunate to find Josephine and her team. They immediately understood the unfairness of our landlord and tenant case and took it on with compassion and a true sense of justice. Within just 10 months, they helped us reach a settlement far beyond what we could have imagined. What really set them apart is that they represent their clients in court, something not every firm offers, and they never charged us a dime until the settlement was finalized. Josephine, Jenan (their amazing paralegal), and their team are not only smart and strategic but also kind, supportive, and genuinely willing to fight for their clients. What could have been an overwhelming and unpleasant process felt manageable because of their guidance and care. We still feel blessed to have had their help and cannot recommend them highly enough.

I had a slip and fall case in a store and suffered a cracked patella. (Kneecap). I was rushed into surgery and had screws and wires installed to be able to walk again. I hired a primary attorney who had NO federal court experience, so Elinor Leary was hired as a secondary lawyer. Since I moved out of state we had a video conference. Ms. Leary very firmly stated if I went to court, I would get nothing. She appeared congenial at some points followed by bouts of hostility and belligerence. At no time was I informed about the weight of oral agreements versus written agreements or anything else regarding legal information. I turned over the disbursement of the Award funds to the Veen Firm because my primary attorney seemed untrustworthy and didn't appear to be even rational at times. He tried to talk me into getting a second operation even though at the time the Doctor didn't want to risk making it worse. Eventually I went back to the Doctor and he said I would now require a knee transplant. Ms. Elinor Leary arranged a video chat with the Doctor allegedly and he confirmed the diagnosis. They then came to me and told me deadlines had passed and the video chat was meaningless. The video chat was $1000. They did not perform the simple task of checking the alleged deadlines beforehand. My primary attorney informed me he was keeping the $1000 anyway in a defiant, mean spirited way. This is why I turned the responsibility of disbursing the award money to the Veen Firm. Our relationship had become strained due to the fact I did not believe they were doing business in good faith. A few other attorneys I talked to and saw the paperwork seemed to concur. I am concerned this behavior is made even sadder because most of us are older, weakened and/or injured. And what about the families of these people, many of which include young children. The "system", as others have noted, has some serious glitches allowing these types of people to operate in this manner. There were other issues as well. Very unhappy with the results, integrity and competency of this firm and Ms. Leary.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are truly sorry to hear how difficult your recovery has been and that you felt frustrated during the legal process. That is never the experience we want any client to have.

The Veen Firm takes concerns like yours very seriously. Ms. Leary is no longer affiliated with our firm. The experience you describe does not reflect our standards or the way our attorneys and staff approach clients and their cases today.

Because your matter involved multiple lawyers and confidential medical and legal issues, we cannot discuss the specifics in a public forum. What we can say is that our role as co-counsel was to review the file, evaluate risk, and provide straightforward advice so you could make informed decisions. We understand that direct guidance can feel difficult when health questions and legal strategy overlap.

We appreciate you bringing your perspective forward, and we wish you the very best in your continued recovery.

In 2019 our firm took on representation of a client who had sustained multiple traumatic injuries in an accident at his workplace in which he was crushed between a truck and a cargo container. It soon became clear that in spite of our firm’s experience this case was simply too complex for us to handle efficiently, so I contacted Elinor Leary of the Veen firm and asked for help. I knew that the Veen firm had the experience and reputation to handle even the most complicated cases, and they absolutely did not disappoint. For five years they worked the case, successfully bringing in defendants and insurance sources few other firms could possibly find. They showed how a top tier law firm works, and their results were nothing less than astounding. The result was far, far better than we had expected, and our client is now financially secure and able to move forward with his life. In addition to their great legal work, the Veen firm was always available and helpful, and we all felt that we were in the best of legal hands. If you are an injured person or a law firm that needs some help with a personal injury or defective product case, I strongly recommend that you contact the Veen firm and discuss your situation with them. I believe they are the best accident and injury firm in California, and I can guarantee you will not regret talking with them about your case.

I had the privilege of working with Attorney Theo at The Veen firm, and I cannot express enough gratitude for his unwavering dedication, compassion, and belief in justice. After being turned down by nearly 30 attorneys and told repeatedly that pursuing my father’s case was pointless, I was on the verge of giving up. Hospitals denied any wrongdoing, and others dismissed the case as unwinnable. But Attorney Theo was different. From the moment he took on the case, he believed in the truth and the fight for justice. Without asking for anything in return, he stood by my side when no one else would, giving me hope when I felt most defeated. His kindness and understanding, paired with his expertise, proved to be exactly what I needed. In the end we won the case. Attorney Theo isn’t just an extraordinary lawyer; he’s a true advocate for people like me—ordinary individuals fighting for justice in the face of overwhelming odds. His dedication brought justice to my family, and I truly believe he was an instrument sent to help in our darkest hour. He restored my faith in the legal system and in the power of good people making a difference. If you’re looking for an attorney who will fight for you with heart and skill, look no further than Attorney Theo. I am confident that he will continue to help many others find justice and peace, just as he did for my family. Thank you, Theo, for being a beacon of hope and for proving that justice isn’t only for the wealthy, but for anyone brave enough to seek it. With deepest appreciation, Harvin

Josephine Alioto and her team at Veen Firm did a wonderful job. She immediately tuned into all the details of my case, while she and her associate Jessica Ng Othon were very thorough with everything. What they put forth showed me that they invested a lot of time and and effort into their work. In the end, through mediation, Josephine got me a very decent settlement for my constructive eviction lawsuit.

My husband and I were very fortunate to have met Theo Emison and have him represent us in a medical malpractice case. He made a very painful situation more bearable and our lives less stressful . Theo is not only knowledgeable and an expert in his field, but he is very thorough, timely in his responses to questions that we asked, accommodating, caring, and compassionate as well. We felt well cared for by Theo during our depositions with the opposing counsel. Theo was able to get us a good settlement, and avoid litigation as well! We can’t express our gratitude enough for everything he did for us. It was a pleasure meeting and working with him.

Response from owner

Thank you for the kind words, Elisabeth. Our team is passionate about providing each person with the care and attention they deserve.

Theo represented our family in a lawsuit against the City and County of SF. It was an emotional case as it involved the death of our father. From beginning to end, Theo demonstrated an extraordinary amount of compassion, professionalism and competence that made us feel like we were in very good hands. He earned our complete trust by handling our questions, concerns and doubts with patience and honest information. He guided us through an extremely difficult process with poise and grace. We felt that he engaged us in a true partnership to meet our goals of holding CCSF accountable and enacting policy change at CCSF to minimize the chance that a similar harm would come to other citizens of SF in the future. We highly recommend Theo and his team.

Response from owner

Thank you for sharing your experience - it was our honor to fight for you and your family to get the justice you deserve.

In August of 2016, my husband had a catastrophic and life changing injury on his job. Initially he was not mobile, the Veen Firm traveled from San Francisco to the Central Valley to review his case. From the onset, they were compassionate, professional, and thorough. In the almost four years of our case they were always available to answer questions and concerns, and on a few occasions, they were able to recommend particularly useful resources to navigate aspects of the case that did not involve them. Every encounter we had with any member of this team always left us feeling well cared for, and well represented. Entering the litigation and negotiation phase of our case was an experience I can not quite put in one word. The level of respect and prestige that follows them into a room is palpable, and rightfully so. Their knowledge, level of professionalism and integrity can not be surpassed. A special thank you to Clifton and Elinor for seeing us through to a successful ending. Our family is forever thankful.

The Veen firm is the most honest, trustworthy law office I have ever dealt with. The Veen firm changed my life and the lives of my family in the most positive way possible. When I was at my worst in life. They came and lifted me up. They protected me and represented me from start to finish. They fought hard and made sure I was fully informed and updated every step of the way. I had the pleasure of having Mr. Veen personally represent me along with Kevin Lancaster and Kimberly Wong. Kevin and Kimberly made the drive from San Francisco to my home in Milpitas, Ca to speak with me in person. The feelings I had from the first encounter to the last was warm genuine and everlasting. I never felt like a client or a paycheck. I was treated like family from day one. We won our case and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

From my initial meeting, the energy was sincere and positive, I was confident and believed the firm would do their utmost to ensure a victorious outcome. I trusted them to make a bad situation better. The team always professional, kept me informed with status updates and developments regarding my entire case. They made themselves available to answer my questions with honesty and patience. I trusted their assurances The team lead by attorney, Anthony Label worked tirelessly and thoroughly anticipating anything the defense might present. When the trial did begin, my legal experts were ready; they had all bases covered. I was amazed by the level of detail, precise research and expertise involved in preparation for trial; we were ready for trial. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for Anthony and his team and the Veen Firm. I feel like the entire firm collaborated bringing strategies that garnered the case’s successful victory. Our case won! The Veen Firm is dedicated to professional excellence, integrity and committed to trust and honesty between client and attorney during a challenging event.

Incompetence, disingenuous, and superficial are traits reflecting the Veen firm. There's a saying "all lawyers go to hell" and I never understood what that meant until my experience with the Veen firm. I was involved in a personal injury incident and my case was referred to the Veen firm from another lawyer in Sacramento. I had signed a contingency-based contract with Elinor, the primary lawyer who would be representing me. Throughout the 3 years of representation, she was very much absent and my communications/interactions were mostly with her minions, Alexandra, Jennifer, and Alice. You would think they would inform Elinor or Elinor requesting to be updated but clearly me of that had occurred as I'll go more into detail below. Throughout my interactions with them, I would be doing most of the work providing them all the documentations from my health providers and more. It felt like I would have to initiate the engagements to get updates which was very frustrating. You don't know what sleazy lawyers do and why their costs are so high because you have no viability and have to trust they're doing their job with utmost competence. The legal process is intense, exhausting, and broken. The Veen firm hardly prepared me, my family and friends, and witnesses of what to expect. Their was lack of communication from the Veen firm to them and the inconveniences they endured by the Veen firm reflects how terrible the firm operates. The Veen firm legal team led by Elinor were outperformed and outmaneuvered by their defense counterparts in every way. What's most embarrassed they were outclassed by a man who looks like a slimy car salesman. It felt like the defense team put more effort to representing the insurance company by researching my medical providers, social media, and etc. than mine which was disheartening because I should have followed my heart and fired Elinor and the Veen firm prior to trial. Their strategy was a failure and they would not take my advice in further exposing the client's destruction of evidence and lack of witnesses. If you hire attorneys to represent you, they should be open to listening to your suggestion. Clearly, they were fixed on their own way which had a disastrous result. What was the nail in the coffin was finding out not one but TWO of my health providers whom the Veen firm used as witness had a felony and misdeamonor records the defense had brought up. HOW do you not do your research?! I had to find out in trial which left me completely demoralized. What was the Veen firm doing all this time? Although we had a winning verdict, this whole ordeal was not worth it. The Veen firm hardly gave me any expert advice or guidance. Post-trial, they showed their true colors. I was clearly upset of their performance and more importantly, the service they provided. I had involved family friends who are sound lawyers and they asked the Veen firm tough questions which they could not answer. This is when the Veen firm showed their true colors. They should have done their work which was stipulated in the contract. They were more focused on expensing Starbucks coffee than doing actual research and work. Because of the outcome of the case, I was filing for application of f arbitration on disputing their ridiculously high costs and fees. Fortunately, they had adjusted the costs and fees which indicates their incompetence and failure to provide the service that was disclosed on the contract we had signed. I recommend those who are ever looking for representation (my heart goes out to you) to hold these opportunistic and superficial lawyers's feet to the fire. Be sure you stay on top of them. Do NOT put your unconditional trust in them thinking they will look out for your best interest. They only look at their bottom line and see you as $$$.

Kayhan, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience. We’re sorry that the process felt disappointing and stressful for you. Serious injury cases are demanding on clients and their families, and it’s clear this was a difficult chapter in your life.

Because your case involved sensitive medical information and attorney–client communications, we’re not able to address specific points or trial strategy in a public forum. We can share that the attorney you mention, Elinor Leary, is no longer affiliated with The Veen Firm. As a firm, we take preparation, communication, and ethical obligations very seriously, and we continually review feedback to improve how we support clients through a long, complex case.

We are glad the matter resulted in a favorable verdict, but we regret that you felt let down by the experience along the way. We appreciate you sharing your perspective and wish you the best going forward.
