Normally, I do not give reviews. Having grown up in the attorney beltway of Washington DC and having the experience of an in-house attorney as well as other attorneys working through civil, criminal and corporate law, I have always experienced a certain level of frustration with them. So, I know how challenging it is to find a good attorney. I have used the Van Norman law group, specifically Jeff, for civil and criminal representation. In all accounts, Jeff and his team were able to win or mitigate my exposure to an acceptable level. Jeff and his team do not practice all law, which is a good thing. He has referred me out when needed.

Jeff was recommended to me by a friend. I have never been in trouble in my life and to say this period of time was difficult would be an understatement. Jeff's first words to me were that he would take care of it and try to put it out of my mind so I could focus on other things going on in my life. It was difficult not knowing what was going on, but trust him, he knows what he is doing. He negotiated the best outcome I believe possible. I also want to commend Vickie. She always returned my calls/emails quickly and kept me informed on necessary court appearances.

A friend referred me to Jeff VanNorman; the friend had his DUI case handled by Jeff, and he told me at the time that Jeff is arguably the best criminal defense attorney in the valley. Having worked with him regarding my son’s DUI case for the last 18 months, I can say my friend was correct! Jeff has been practicing law for a long time, and his stellar reputation is well-deserved. His rates are very reasonable. He is friendly, with offers to chat about your case whenever you need. He talks to you like a human being. He definitely put us at ease throughout the process, and the case was resolved in a way that was far better than we expected. If we had tried to handle it ourselves or relied on a public defender, I know we would not have gotten this outcome (nothing against public defenders, but they cannot give this kind of individual attention and expertise to all of their clients). I hope we never need a criminal defense attorney again, but if we do, we are calling VanNorman Law. I can’t recommend him enough.

Sad to have to share my experience, but when it’s your first time dealing with a lawyer to me communication is the most important. Remember you sign a non-refundable agreement at the beginning for your hard earned money, but in my case Jeff went to the first pre-trial to just get the packet of information. There was no call the day of court or after I had to follow-up and ask how it went, nothing was explained and I didn’t feel comfortable having him represent me if this was how communication was starting off, so I ended up switching to another lawyer again paying my money, but the communication and explaining of the system and what was going to go on was more important to me, but it can with a cost. He reached out with a call only, and his company gladly took my 2000 for only one quick pre-trial to obtain paperwork. Sadly I had much better care and communication elsewhere.
