Called about what they said they do but was not helped at all or they dont do whats put online, pure lies

I am in desperate need of representation and I am low income, have a disability and spoke with an intake person over a month ago and gave her all the details she requested. She said I would hear from someone within two weeks. Three weeks passed, so I called back and heard the recording stating that the lines were closed until further notice. I emailed them asking why no one ever contacted me and received a reply stating that they didn't have enough lawyers to help everyone. I just called them just to see if the lines were open again, and they are, but no one answered even though it was during intake hours. I've also heard the recording at the Augusta Maine Courthouse, urging people to call the VLP if they are in need of assistance. This was just within the last week. Why would they offer a program that is too busy or ill equipped to help people like myself in need of representation?. Something seems off? I think I know what it is.

they wont help if the company that scammed you is not from maine jurisdiction, their initiative is good but they should consider that not many companies fall under Maine jurisdiction. they should atleast considering providing advice to people, in my case, the company that i was about to sue is based out of california, that's where most companies lie and their operations are effective in maine as well, then why not VLP provide help to the consumers who got affected by that company?

They unfortunately weren't able to help me, but their response was pretty quick, and they offered me other options that were very helpful. Thank you guys very much!!

They don’t help people, they help “households” that are under their income limit. So if you have a roommate or someone living with you, they won’t help you if your roommates income is too high. Just an excuse to help as few people as possible. I have a disability and can only work about 15-20 hours a week but because the other person in my household (who has no legal or financial connection to me) apparently makes too much, they said I am over their limit. What difference does it make, this person is not responsible for me!

Run around. Every answer is, I can’t legally answer that even when asking for simple directional steps. Only looking for assets, even if you say I’m not pursuing that avenue. Also no sense of urgency, on matters that affect you. I would give 0 stars if I could. Hands down the worst organization. Scrape up 50 dollars somewhere and see if you can buy an hour from a lawyer and get some real answers because these guys will just waste your time and give you the run around. This is in regard to probate matters. You tell them something and stand up for your right and then you get told all of a sudden they will not help you. They pick and choose, to what they think they can get out of it. I wouldn’t call these guys for ANYTHING. I was trying to fax things to them for some friends of mine. The person they talked to was great with information. Problem is their fax will not answer . I guess they need someone in IT to fix that. Otherwise so far so good. Will update you when the case is closed. Wish us luck :)..
