First the bad reviews here are nuts. They are irrelevant and Google should remove them. Personally, I think the hourly for ALL lawyers is insane, but relatively these folks are reasonable and don't waste time. I don't like that I always have to leave messages, but staffing is tough for all businesses and more staff means clients will pay more. I have worked with all of the lawyers in this firm and Nigel. They are responsive and experienced and kind. I have done closings, corporate documents, tenant issues and a will with them. I've never felt disappointed or overcharged. I worked with Chip for so many years and have referred clients to him and the other lawyers in the firm. I saw him as a friend. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.
I was looking for a lawyer so the VT Bar assigned me Ward law. At first, Ward law did not return calls. After several calls, they finally returned my call. Per the VT bar they were to give me 30 minutes of legal advice for $25 for the initial client contact. Nigel spent the entire 30 minutes describing why I need to pay every time a Lawyer breaths. Not 1 piece of legal advice was given. The simple question of do I have a case was not answered. They claimed they needed to research the law, and bill me, to determine if I have a case. I was horrified by the greed from this law firm and am looking for a way to report them to the VT bar for not giving me the 30 minutes of legal time they are required to to be a part of the VT bar association. They will freely take your money and provide you 0 legal advice.
5 stars are not nearly enough to acknowledge Chip's knowledge, guidance and patience. Thank you, Chip. Regards, Jeff
Thanks for the compliment! Building long-term relationships with our clients are at the core of the firm's mission to provide solid legal advice and support to our clients. We want to be able to provide big firm experience and skills but with a small firm’s commitment to your individual needs. Glad we could be of assistance. Ward Law, PC
I've been seeking the assistance of attorney Will Towle and the other fine folks at Ward Law, PC for the better part of 12 years. They are ethical, kind and utterly professional, and I have only been very well served by the advice, representation and legal assistance they have provided on numerous occasions. I highly recommend they be your first choice for legal assistance in the state of Vermont.
If I could give no stars I would. I went above and beyond for chip on an application giving him documents for tenancy to be turned away (for no real reason). I asked for an honest answer on what made us not rentable.... we received nothing back. We had been rebuilding our credit had several thousand dollars in the bank (proved with statements) just to be shot down. He discriminated against us and stereotyped us for being young. Sorry we don’t drive around an Audi however we work very hard and pay our rent on time. Unless you want someone who is going to look down upon you DO NOT rent from him.
Jessica, you have never done business with our law firm. Your review is about applying to rent a house. We do not rent houses. We are a law firm.

Chip, one of our lawyers, personally manages a house which you apparently applied to be a tenant. This is unrelated to our law firm. It sounds like you were disappointed that you did not get the house, but it has nothing to do with our law firm or the services we provide.

An owner decides on an application based on information owners can gather about applicants. Poor credit, inadequate and unverifiable self employment income, being a smoker, a history of suing a past landlord, and generally not being forthright about rental history — these are all reasons a prospective tenant is not likely to be accepted by an owner.
