Atty. Mark Button was awesome! I got a reckless driving charge in VA and I’m from SC. I was doing 103/70. He gave me a list of things to do BEFORE court. I got them done and was told the judge doesn’t usually drop the reckless driving, but due to my mother having a stroke, I was in a hurry and frantic to get to Northern VA. The judge reduced it to a 85/70mph!!!! Unheard of! But I had a pretty hefty fine, which I gladly paid. I’d rather have a 4 pt violation, than reckless driving (misdemeanor, possible license suspension and SR22 insurance). He called me several times throughout the process and kept in touch. I highly recommend him and would hire him again hands down!!

Absolutely shocked with how well my interactions went. I was given a reckless ticket (without speeding) and realized I should get a lawyer about 3 weeks before the court date (during the holidays). His team gave me instructions on things to complete before the date and send to them and they would be going to court on my behalf. The intention was to ask for a continuation since they were not completely ready yet to take the case on due to other cases. I was facing a serious driving-related charge with potential jail time and long-term consequences. First, let me name the weight I was carrying: this was never just a court date. As a Black woman with an Arab name, I already move through institutions where assumptions are made before I speak. A criminal charge attached to my name would not have been neutral data. It would have quietly affected my education, background checks, clinical placements, licensure pathways, housing, and the quality of life I am working toward as a college student pursuing a future doctorate in psychology. Before hiring Mark Button, I spoke with two other attorneys. While professional, their tone felt uncertain and dismissive of the magnitude of what I was facing. As white men practicing in South Virginia, they did not seem to fully grasp how differently the stakes can land for a Black woman with an Arab name navigating this system. I walked away from those conversations feeling unheard and unsure about the outcome, and about the system itself. From the very first conversation, Mark Button was different. He met me with steadiness, groundedness, and genuine care. He acknowledged who I am, the realities I navigate, and the seriousness of what was at risk without dismissal, fear, or condescension. Watching how he carried my case in that courtroom, I knew, somehow, that everything was going to be alright. The judge was visibly taken aback by the strength of my case, the preparation, and the work I had done. My case was dismissed completely. I cried tears of joy and freedom. I walked out of that courtroom a free woman, with my future intact and my narrative still my own, and that outcome was the direct result of following Mark’s guidance to the letter. Before we parted, Mark told me something I will never forget: “If you work toward anything in life the way you worked toward this case, you’ll be able to retire at 30.” He meant it, and I felt it. I went on to earn all A’s this semester for the first time in my college career, carrying a new sense of focus, discipline, and belief in myself. I contacted the first office, there was a sense of it just being transactional and I wasn't the priority. Next, I contacted Mr. Weiland Button, PLC. I didn't feel like a number. We conversed on the purposes I needed their surfaces and he was totally interested in how their office could meet my needs and explained the entire process, what his fees were and informed I did not have to come from out of state to be present as he would be there to represent me and contact me with the results as soon as the court case was complete. He has consistent results in the Richmond District Court System. We communicated via email and I could contact their office at any time if I had any questions. I never felt DISMISSED and I was a PRIORITY. I felt SEEN and HEARD. I was given a list of items I needed to submit prior to my court date. I promptly submitted the items, they confirmed receipt, and I awaited my court date. The initial date was moved and a new date was set. After the new date, I was immediately contacted by the paralegal April. Thank God for Google! I was sold on Mark Buttons attentiveness and likable personality. Of all the lawyers I inquired around for he seemed to be the only one who showed compassion for his work and that he’s also a human being. I had a reckless driving ticket traveling from NC back to NJ. In summary, he appeared on my behalf, and was able to knock the misdemeanor down to a minor traffic infraction. Amazing!
