Establishing a living trust was something that I had avoided for years. I felt intimated due to the legal complexities and therefore procrastinated! Yet, I did not want to subject my family to the probate process upon my death. When I asked about planning services they made an apt with me I waited a month for the apt and when I ask for general price for a simple family trust when the apt was confirmed. The lawyers assistant called me back and said "If you are shopping around for prices, I am not the lawyer for you and you are not the client for me." It was frustrating and there was nothing wrong with asking for a general cost with understanding it could go up based on level of need. As far as I am concerned I dont think she would have done a good job with our trust due to her clear prejudice against a client who wants up front pricing . I had every intention of following through with the trust if she was the right lawyer for us. Clearly she only wants clients who have endless amount of money and not concerned about what was actually needed but clearly wanting the ability to run up a bill.

Katie Burns is an excellent attorney. She is insightful, very smart and driven to find ways to help her clients. She prepared a Trust for my Home to be left to my niece as the succesor Administrator of the Trust. We are in the process of having the mortgage loan with 2.75% fixed interest rate assigned to the Trust which allows my niece live in the home continuing that low interest mortgage after my Death. This Estate Plan is much better for our family needs than a traditional will. Katie did an amazing job with my Estate Plan!
